LG has announced a new wearable device called KizOn that will let you keep a track of your children. The device includes built-in wireless and networking functionality and is worn on your wrist like a watch.

KizOn includes GPS, Wi-Fi and calling functionality that will let you keep a track of your children’s whereabouts on your smartphone. You can configure the device to call one particular number that can be changed from your smartphone. You can also call the device from a phone and if the child does not answer the call within ten seconds from one of the pre-configured numbers, the call is automatically accepted so that the parent will be able to use the microphone on the device and listen to what their kid is up to. CyanogenMod 11 M8 is now available for download on selected devices. For the first time, the Sony Xperia Z2 (sirius), Xiaomi Mi2 (aries), Oppo Find 7a/s (find7) and OnePlus One (bacon) are graced by the popular third-party ROM.

A group of around 20 men armed with submachine guns raided a Samsung factory in Campinas, Brazil, late last night.

The thieves entered the factory disguised as part of the night shift, loaded up seven trucks worth of smartphones, tablets and notebooks, and got away with some $36 million worth of goods. Read more »

This year will see another big rise among smart devices shipped to retailers and sold to customers – by its end more than 2.43 billion units will have left the manufacturing facilities which compares nicely to to 2013′s 2.34 billion.

The numbers come from Gartner which breaks them down by traditional PCs, ultrabooks and premium laptops, tablets and mobile phones. Interestingly the PC market will account for 308 million devices with tablets closing in at 256 million. Gartner’s projection for 2015 is that tablets will overtake PCs with roughly 4 million more shipments. Read more »

South Korean’s Fair Trade Commission has ordered Apple and Google to establish proper and user-friendly refund policies for the AppStore and the Play Store. This decision will probably impact many other regions as well.

The only way to get your money back from an AppStore purchase was through contacting Apple directly and opening a case. Google on the other hand allows you a full refund for an app within 15 minutes of purchase, but after that contacting Google through the proper channels is the only way. Read more »

LG unveiled a trio of new G Pad tablets – G Pad 7.0, G Pad 8.0 and G Pad 10.1. The slates were showcased at the MedPi 2014 trade show in Monaco earlier this year, but there was no word on the availability of these devices.

Today, LG has announced the global launch of G Pad 10.1. The company’s largest tablet will be up for grabs in United States followed by other markets in Europe, Asia and Latin America later this month. The pricing hasn’t been detailed as they are said to vary from each market. Read more »

South HAMerica is the latest update to Rovio’s Angry Birds Seasons game, which is updated every now and then for a festival or season specific level pack. The South HAMerica update is odd, in that it doesn’t directly relate to any season or festival, and other than some vague reference to the football matches being held in Brazil isn’t as topical as the previous updates.

Two year contracts are the norm in the US, and Samsung knows that. The company also knows that many people who bought a Galaxy S III in 2012 are soon due to renew their service agreements, and it would like them to choose a Galaxy S5 this time around.
