Android Auto made its debut at Google I/O and is Google’s attempt to make the car’s infotainment systems suck less.

Android Auto puts a large focus on navigation, audio and messaging, while Google Now takes a center stage into the Auto user experience. The user interface looks the part, too, with large interface elements that are easily glance-able. Read more »

The upcoming Android TV seemed to threaten the very existence of Chromecast, but Google seems rather attached to it as it announced cool new features for its highly popular HDMI stick. The most important new feature is screen mirroring, which lets you display any app on your phone or tablet on your Chromecast-enabled TV (is this the end of Miracast?).

Chromecast is also easier to set up for casting from your friends’ devices – they no longer need to be connected to your Wi-Fi network. Read more »

Google introduced Android on just about any platform you can think of so naturally the company is bringing Android to Chrome OS and the Chromebooks. It’s just the early days, but Android apps will run on Chromebooks with minimal changes from the app developers.

Integration with your phone goes beyond just running apps too, similar to the new Mac OS X Yosemite you’ll receive call and message notifications on your Chromebook. Read more »

The Google I/O keynote is going at full swing and we’ve got new announcements coming in every minute. The company confirmed that the first two watches that were announced alongside the Android Wear debut in March, the Motorola Moto 360 and the LG G Watch, will be water resistant.

Just as expected, Samsung is the third company to join the Android Wear fun, announcing its Gear Live smartwatch. The watch is water resistant and will be available for purchase later today from the Google Play Store.

The Gear Live looks a lot like the Gear 2. While virtually no specifications were provided, it seems that the Gear Live will carry the same 1.63″ Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 320 x 320 pixels. Read more »

LG’s official YouTube account decided to upload a video that’s all about the G3‘s camera – its main features and the most important things that differentiate it from its competitors in this area.

One of the main focuses on this year’s Google I/O is going to be Android Wear and products such as the LG G Watch and Motorola Moto 360 will take center stage. LG’s first Android Wear smartwatch has popped up today in a retail listing, which suggests a price tag of $255.

A 5-inch tablet might seem rather odd in this day and age, but Panasonic has just announced two of them. One runs Android, the other is powered by Windows 8.1 Embedded Handheld, and they’re both extremely expensive.

On the other hand, they’re also both incredibly rugged, being able to withstand drops onto concrete from up to ten feet. In fact, they go beyond even the military standard MIL-STD-810G in terms of how resistant they are to the elements or accidents. Read more »

Nokia unveiled the X2 smartphone earlier today, which is powered by the company’s X software platform version 2.0. A little known fact is that this is based on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean.

The first iteration of Nokia’s fork of Android, seen in such devices like the original X, the X+, and the XL, was based on the much older Android 4.1 Jelly Bean code. Read more »

Opera has a long-standing partnership with Nokia to provide a browser for its phones – it used to be Opera Mini on Series 40 nowadays it’s the full-fledged Opera Mobile on the Nokia X platform (Nokia’s premium WP platform is of course serviced by IE).

Opera will be the default browser on Nokia X phones, starting with the new Nokia X2, and it’s available for free download for current X owners. Read more »
