Samsung Galaxy11 star-studded ad series concludes with the second half of the game

The Samsung Galaxy11 commercial series has been one of the most impressive in the mobile world, or at least as far as number of celebrities involved is concerned. The videos that tell the story of aliens attacking the earth, who agree to spare our planet if we beat them at a game of football.

So Samsung gathered the most attack-minded team that you’ve ever seen (seriously, there are zero defenders in the squad), equipped them with a bunch of Galaxy gear and sent them to fight for us. BlackBerry takes a jab at the Blackphone, its maker strikes back

Feeling the pressure from losing ground under its feet, BlackBerry is no stranger to publicly attacking the competition. Following the jab at the Android KNOX security feature, BlackBerry has set its aim at the new smartphone maker behind the security-oriented Blackphone. On one of its official blogs, the Canadian phonemaker states that the Android-powered Blackphone is “inadequate for business”.

But Toby Weir-Jones, chief executive of SGP Technologies, maker of the Blackphone handset wouldn’t have any of this and retaliated with a blog post hitting BlackBerry where it hurts most. Read more »

Asus Transformer TF701T receives Android 4.4.2 KitKat update

Asus is currently pushing an update for the Transformer TF701T tablet to Android 4.4.2. The OTA update takes the tablet from Android 4.3 Jelly Bean to a more recent version of KitKat, but the company isn’t bragging about it as there’s no official information on exactly what the update changes.

Nevertheless, our tipster who has received the update in Spain, says that there’s now a Powered by Android logo added to the boot animation. Read more »

Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 now available on AT&T

AT&T is now offering the Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 on its network and the tablet can be purchased online. The carrier will start selling the slate in its brick and mortar stores from July 25.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 can be yours for $18.50 a month with $0 down and no annual service contract or $269.99 with a two year agreement. Read more »

Snapchat introduces geofilters

Snapchat has added a new filter setting in the app called geofilters.

Now when you take a picture, just slide right and you will see a bunch of text filters that correspond to your location. You’ll only see filters for your location and it’s mostly just colorful text in fancy fonts and some images overlaid on your photos. If that’s something you’re into, then you have that option now. The first iPhone 6 clone stars in a couple of videos

An LG Nexus tablet pops up in an import manifest

According to manifest documents from Indian imports tracker Zauba, somebody has brought a prototype LG Nexus tablet into the country. It sounds pretty reasonable to guess that this may as well be the Nexus 8 we saw mentioned earlier this month in a similar manifest.

Of course, it may as well be a 10-inch slate as it’s been a while since Google released theirs. Interestingly, the last two compact Nexus tablets were made by Asus and both received stellar reviews so it would be surprising to see Google move production to LG. Read more »

Samsung Galaxy K zoom battery test

The Samsung Galaxy K zoom packs a 2,430mAh battery, less that you would imagine looking at its bulk. Still, Samsung has had a few iterations to optimize its Exynos chipset for great power efficiency and the Galaxy Note 3 Neo got great results with the same chipset (but bigger battery).
