First Flipboard lost its Galaxy S III exclusivity and is currently available for all Androids, now S Voice and various apps and widgets from the Galaxy S III followed suit.

The credit for leaking the highly anticipated S Voice goes to XDA member PlaYOuT, who extracted it and made it available for everyone’s downloading pleasure. A lot of people have complained about the discrepancy between the two modes on Windows 8. As you may know, Windows 8 will ship with the new Metro UI as well as a standard desktop mode for legacy apps. While the Metro side of the OS looks modern and fresh, the desktop version looks almost similar to older versions of Windows and the two couldn’t be more different.

Microsoft has heard your complaints and although they won’t be redesigning the desktop side in Metro they have made some changes to the existing UI to be more in sync with the Metro design language. Read more »

We are no strangers to seeing Android devices being rooted ahead of their launch and the upcoming Galaxy S III is no different. The root comes courtesy Android developer Chainfire and you will be able to find more details regarding the root on his post on xda-developers forum.

Chainfire gives special credit to Samsung for this root. Apparently, the whole process was a piece of cake compared to some of the other devices, including previous Galaxy models. It seems Samsung has made it very easy for developers to unlock and root the phone. Read more »

Researchers at the Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology (SAIT), have refined a technology that allows them to create a new, faster transistor.

Graphene’s electron mobility is more than 200 times faster than silicon, and semiconductor devices with this technology are expected to have highly increased performance. Read more »

Samsung has announced that it has begun mass production of industry’s first 4 gigabit LPDDR2 memory for mobile devices based on the 20nm technology.

So what does this mean for the user? Well, for starters the memory modules will now be smaller, which should let the hardware manufacturers pack in even more things in the limited space inside mobile devices. Read more »

Did you know there was a site called iphone5.com as far back as 2008? Weird (or really forward thinking), considering that’s when only the second iPhone – the 3G – was announced. That site wasn’t owned or operated by Apple though – it used to be a forum with a ton of ads.

Sony has just announced two new cameras for the semi-professional consumers. The first one is the NEX-F3, a mirrorless interchangeable lens camera. It is the cheapest model in Sony’s NEX line and is to the NEX-5N what the NEX-3 was to the NEX-5.

The NEX-F3 has a 16.1 megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor from the NEX-5N. It’s a pretty large sensor and similar to what you might find on a DSLR but unlike on a DSLR, there is no mirror in between to bounce the light to the viewfinder. Instead you get a digital viewfinder that takes the video feed directly from the sensor. Read more »

The arrival of the AT&T exclusive, LTE enabled Samsung Focus 2 to the market is hardly a surprise, given the fact that the competition on the US market is already sporting LTE connectivity. However, in order to avoid clashing with the likes of the Nokia Lumia 900 and HTC Titan II, the Korean creation undercuts both in terms of price and specs.

The Samsung Focus 2 (unsurprisingly) features a single-core, Scorpion CPU, clocked at 1.4GHz, and Adreno 205 GPU. Read more »

LG came out public today, detailing a new concept for their custom UI skin to be used on their upcoming IceCream Sandwich smartphones. The company issued a lengthy press release that makes a lot of promising and does little in terms of actual demonstrations.

The key new features include a QuickMemo integration throughout the UI and enhanced lockscreen functionality. As any smiling South Korean girl would tell you (ok, not on their Samsung shift, they won’t), these innovations would certainly provide a more upscale user experience.

Starting today, Google is introducing its latest gen search technology. Moving away from keyword indexing, the Knowledge graph makes a transition to a world of entities, nodes and relationships. As they put it, Google will now try and search for “things, not strings”.

In the past 2 years Google has been working on the information database for the project and not it’s gathered “more than 3.5 billion facts about and relationships between these different objects”. In simple words, Google will recognize ambiguous search strings by understanding they might mean several things and it will adjust your search results based on your choice of topic.
