ARM Q4 profits exceed analyst predictions

British-based chip designer ARM posted a pre-tax profit of roughly $125.9 million, up 16% in the fourth quarter.

BlackBerry Z10 Dev Alpha C launched for BB app developers

BlackBerry has launched a new Dev Alpha C program along with a new developer-only device at its Jam European event held in Amsterdam. The Dev Alpha program is intended to help the coders build applications for the BlackBerry devices with physical keyboards.

Panasonic promises better camera performance with their new Micro color splitters for digital image sensors

New camera sensors are all the rage recently – first rumors of HTC’s new sensor design (new for phones anyway), and now Panasonic’s plans for a completely new sensor architecture based on the wave properties of light.

Panasonic’s design drops the standard Bayer filter for micro color splitters – instead of filtering light by colors, these splitters use diffraction to sort out colors, which reduces losses (a Bayer filter would block 50%-70% of the light before it hits the sensor). Read more »

OUYA console to hit retail outlets in June for $99.99

OUYA, the Kickstarter funded Android based game console is now in its final stages. According to CEO Julie Uhrman, the console will start shipping to Kickstarter backers in March.

As for the rest of us, the console will hit retail outlets in June, with Target, Best Buy and Gamestop being the first to have it in stock. If you want to get it online, you have the option of getting it from the company’s website (which will ship early in April) or from Amazon. Read more »

New game title Temple Run: Oz the Great and Powerful releasing on February 27

Temple Run is already a smash hit on both iOS and Android, and it’s only been two weeks since it was released. Following in the footsteps of Temple Run: Brave, the new game will reportedly revolve around the story and the characters from the upcoming movie Oz the Great and Powerful.

Watch the Iron Man 3 ‘Extended’ trailer here

Walt Disney Studios showcased an ‘extended’ trailer of their upcoming superhero movie, Iron Man 3, during the Super Bowl. Why the word ‘extended’ is in quotes is something you will have to see for yourself when you watch the trailer.

The trailer also shows Iron Man attempting to rescue a whole bunch of people falling from a damaged airplane and cuts just before we see how he manages to save thirteen people when he can just carry four. Read more »

Carbon for Twitter finally released on the Play Store

Twitter users on Android have been waiting for this day for a long time now but it’s finally here. After being teased for almost a year, the developers of Carbon have finally released the Twitter client on the Play Store.

The app was shown off on Twitter last year and then an early alpha was released for a few users. After that the app was delayed indefinitely because the developers could not release it as a paid app on Play Store as it wasn’t supported in their region. After that it was announced that the app would be released as a free app but even that got postponed indefinitely. Read more »

‘Little Inferno’ for iPad game review

Little Inferno made its public debut last year as one of the launch titles for the Nintendo Wii U. Made by the designers of the popular game World of Goo and Henry Hatsworth, the game was lauded for its unique gameplay and won many awards. After that it was released on Steam and has now made an appearance on the mobile platform with the iPad version.

There is a pyromaniac in every one of us and that’s whom the game is made for. You simply set fire to things in this game, and then do it in various combos to create bigger fires and earn more points. Samsung’s Super Bowl ad looks for the Next Big Thing with Seth Rogen, Paul Rudd and LeBron James

The full Samsung Super Bowl ad is now out and stars Seth Rogen and Paul Rudd (and several Samsung Galaxy gadgets, of course). The two comedy actors are trying to figure out an ad for the “Next Big Thing” – and there’s a surprice cameo from LeBron James too.
