We have been hearing rumors about upcoming 7/8-inch Windows 8 tablets, with Microsoft itself said to be working on one. This leaked Acer tablet, however, is the first to confirm that rumor.

What you see above is the Acer Iconia W3-810, a 7-inch tablet running Windows 8. As you can see the device has been optimized for use in portrait mode, with the Windows button placed near the narrow edge. A Foxconn employee has sent a tip to news outlet China Business reporting that Apple has rejected between 5 and 8 million iPhone handsets “due to appearance of substandard or dysfunctional problems.”

The source of the information doesn’t specify what’s the iPhone model and what exactly was wrong with the units, so its hard to say whether there’s a problem with the aluminum casing or the hardware innards of the devices. Read more »

Google Now is headed for the desktop version of Chrome as an extension (in Russian only, not fully functional yet), but it seems that the mind-reading information service will make its way to the Google homepage as well. References to Now and cards have been discovered in a JavaScript file loaded by Google.com, but the functionality isn’t there yet.

The next generation Galaxy Note phablet has been doing the rounds in Rumorland for quite some time now and according to the latest speculations, it might feature an OLED display, made from a plastic substrate.

Facebook unveiled its Facebook Home application for Android earlier in the month and it has been enjoying quite a lot of interest. The launcher, which replaces the normal homescreen with the Cover feed, has been downloaded more than 500,000 times since its arrival on the Google Play Store despite only being available to a few smartphones in several countries.

LG Display is estimated to receive some 30% of its business from tech giant Apple, and has recorded its weakest profit since Q2 of last year.

The original Cut the Rope has been a rousing success. Known for its simple yet challenging gameplay and adorable animation style, the game was a hit with all age groups. It later spawned a sequel in the form of Cut the Rope: Experiments, which introduced new levels and gameplay mechanics.

Now, a year and a half after Experiments came out, developers ZeptoLab have released the third installment in the series, labelled Cut the Rope: Time Travel.
