Toshiba has announced the launch of WT310 tablet, designed exclusively for business users. The slate comes with a wide range of features, which include the DigitizerPen that converts handwritten notes into editable text.

Facebook launches Trusted Contacts: the latest password security option

Facebook has a launched a new password security option called Trusted Contacts. The latest security option allows you to select few of your trusted friends, who will help you retrieve the password if you are unable to access your Facebook account.

If you set up the Trusted Contacts option in your account, the selected friends will be provided with security codes, which will allow you to access your profile in case you are locked out of your account. Read more »

Combined Apple and Samsung expected to ship 110 million tablets for 2013, Chinese makers to follow close by

Following yesterday’s IDC analysis report for tablet shipments in the first quarter of the year, DigiTimes reckons that combined Apple and Samsung will ship close to a total of 110 million slates in 2013.

The news comes from a Taiwan-based TFT-LCD panel maker, who has received a massive order from both companies, as well as smaller Chinese manufacturers, who sell the “white box” Android tablets (the cheaper, low-margin ones). Read more »

Photos of Tegra 4 powered Toshiba tablet crop up, show a QWERTY keyboard accessory

A number of Tegra 4 powered devices were discovered in AnTuTu benchmark results, including a Toshiba tablet. Now we’re getting a better look of that tablet thanks to photos sent to Techblog.gr.

The tablet runs Android 4.2.1 and is powered by four Cortex-A15 CPU cores clocked at 1.8GHz. The Tegra 4 chipset also packs a fifth power-saver core. Read more »

Doom 3 ported to Android, lets you fight hellish invaders on the go

I remember when I first installed Doom 3 on my computer in 2004 – it struggled at even the lowest resolution. Now we have a Doom 3 port for Android phones, because that’s how far smartphone performance has gone.

Doom 3, like many other id Software games, got open sourced, which allowed the creation of many ports, including this one. The dev behind this one is the same that brought the Return to Castle Wolfenstein and Quake III ports. Read more »

Barnes & Noble adds Google Play Store support to NOOK HD and NOOK HD+

Barnes & Noble have announced that they will be adding support for the Google Play Store on their NOOK HD and NOOK HD+ Android tablets. So far these devices have been restricted to downloading content only from Barnes & Noble’s content store but are now open to the entire Google catalog as well.

Along with the 700,000 apps and games, NOOK HD and NOOK HD+ users will also be able to access music, movies, books and magazines from the Play Store. Other than that, Barnes & Noble is also adding the Google Chrome browser and Google services such as Gmail, Google Maps, YouTube and Google Search. Read more »

Instagram 3.5 update brings photo tagging, minor UI changes

Instagram has released v3.5 of their mobile app for iOS and Android and along with that introduced a new feature to the service. Now, you will be able to tag your friends in your photos and see all the pictures you have been tagged in in your profile.

To tag someone in a photo, click on the ‘Add People’ option after you take a photo. You will them be asked to tap anywhere on the photo you want to tag someone and then type their profile name. You then select the ID and the photo gets tagged. You can not just tag new photos but also existing ones by clicking on the options key in the bottom right of each photo. Read more »

Samsung unveils NX2000 smart camera with 20.3MP sensor for $650

Samsung has extended its collection of NX camera’s with the latest addition being the NX2000. The image of the NX2000 smart camera leaked earlier and now, the company has officially announced the availability of the sharpshooter, which is based on a SMART camera technology.

The camera on the Samsung Galaxy S4 has been upgraded to 13 megapixels and the performance of the shooter has been more than impressive. The device’s camera has been used to shoot a music video of a Finnish metal band and the output is rather surprising.

Microsoft allegedly working on its second generation Surface tablets
