Twitter announced its new service named Vine in January, letting you share short looping videos on the popular social network. Back then a Vine app was only available for iOS, but that exclusivity is finally coming to an end. The service, which already has about 13 million active users, has finally been made available for Android.

Vine for Android currently requires Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich or higher to work, but it lacks some of the features from the iOS app. However, Twitter promised that it will soon release an update for the Android version that will put it on par with its iOS counterpart. Read more »

Foxconn has officially unveiled the first Firefox OS-powered tablet, which was rumored for a while, at a press event at Computex 2013 in Taipei.

According to a report filed by market information provider iSupply, Samsung is breathing down Intel’s neck in the semiconductor market race in the first quarter of 2013 with 10.5% market share. Intel controls 15.1% if the chip market.

For the January-March period, Samsung’s recorded $7.77 billion in sales, while Intel sales totalled $11.16 billion. Read more »

ASUS has officially announced its Transformer Book Trio at the on-going Computex 2013. The ASUS Transformer Book Trio is a three-in-one mobile device, which dual-boots Windows 8 and Android and aims to give you a netbook, a tablet and a Windows 8 desktop PC in one device.

The Transformer Book Trio sports an 11.6-inch detachable display and the PC Station dock has an Intel Core i7 processor, keyboard and a 750 GB hard drive. The tablet display can be detached and the main part can be hooked to an external display to use as a desktop PC. Read more »

The Asus Fonepad raised a lot of eyebrows when it was announced – a 7″ tablet with phone aspirations, which was too underpowered to gain major traction. Yet the company seems undeterred as it today announced the Asus Fonepad Note, a 6″ phablet.

ASUS has just announced three new Android tablets at Computex 2013. The first of the trio is an update to last year’s Transformer Pad Infinity. The new one runs on the NVIDIA Tegra 4 SoC with 1.9GHz quad-core Cortex-A15 CPU and the 72-core GeForce GPU.

Other features of the Transformer Pad Infinity include a 10.1-inch 2560 x 1600 resolution IPS display, 2GB RAM, 32GB built-in memory, 5 megapixel rear camera and 1.2 megapixel front camera, both with auto-focus, USB 3.0 port, SD card slot, dual-band 802.11a/b/g/n Wi-Fi with Miracast support and Bluetooth 3.0+EDR. We have seen it leak a few times before but now it’s finally official. Acer has taken the wraps off the Iconia W3, the first 8-inch Windows 8 tablet.

The Iconia W3 has an 8.1-inch, 1280 x 800 resolution display. It is powered by an Intel Atom Z2760 processor and is available in 32GB and 64GB variants. Huawei Ascend Mate has just made it to out office. It’s the company’s largest smartphone up to date with a 6.1-inch IPS+ 720p display. The Mate is powered by Huawei’s home-brewed K3V2 chip, which has a quad-core 1.5GHz Cortex-A9 processor, 16-core graphics and 2GB of RAM.

The Ascend Mate runs on Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean OS skinned with Huawei’s own Emotion UI. The entire skin reminds us a lot of the Meizu MX phones, since it lacks an app drawer and everything goes on your homescreens. Read more »
