Angry Birds Star Wars II is getting an update today. The new episode is called Rise of the Clones and brings over 40 new levels.

Nokia Children of the Revolution ad has colorpop done right

It its latest ad Nokia is focusing the attention on its Creative Studio and more importantly the Colorpop feature that allows you to only display one color channel on an otherwise black and white photo.

The ad is dubbed Children of the Revolution and, you guessed it – comes with the epic T-Rex song as background. The ad itself is a sequel to Nokia’s last ad – Not Like Everybody Else (that epic Kinks song) and has the first ad cameo at the end. Read more »

Samsung Galaxy Tab S tablet firmware leaks ahead of announcement

A firmware for one of the upcoming duo of Samsung Galaxy Tab S tablets leaked today. It appears that someone with access to the tablets has extracted the image from one of them and was kind enough to share it with the rest of us.

While the firmware is currently not very useful to end-users as the 10.5″ and 8.4″ Galaxy Tab S slates aren’t out yet, it could be used by developers to extract software bits such as various Samsung apps, wallpapers and ringtones. Read more »

Telescope accessory for iPhone 5/5s costs slightly less than a trip to the moon

Thanko, known for gadget curiosities like USB staplers and USB-powered allergy masks, has another interesting product in store – a telescope designed for the Apple iPhone. It can be used with naked eyes but put on an iPhone 5 or 5s and you get 100x magnification so you can play astronomer.

Skype Translator does speech to speech translation in near real time

Microsoft presented a cool upcoming update to Skype called Translator – it breaks down the language barrier by serving as an interpreter. It listens to what you say and then speaks it to the other side in a language they understand, then does the same for them.

Most impressive is the speed – not quite real-time, but the translation is spoken almost as soon as you’re done talking. Read more »

Sony Xperia Z2 gets an official wireless charting kit

Sony said nothing about wireless charging during the Xperia Z2 announcement in Barcelona last February. But today the manufacturer officially unveiled the Wireless Charging Cover WCR12 and Wireless Charging Plate WCH10 for the smartphone.

Google reveals its self-driving car

Google first announced its plans in 2010 to make a self-driving car that, well, drives itself around and the passengers just have to sit and enjoy the ride without worrying about driving the vehicle. After years in development, Google has revealed an early version of its prototype vehicle.

The car, other than its self-driving ability is not much. It’s a cute little hatchback with just two seats inside and a screen to show the route. It doesn’t have any creature comforts on the inside and that is on purpose as this one is more for testing and demonstration purposes. Read more »

The LG G3 first official promo video is out

LG G3 was announced just minutes ago with a 5.5″ QHD display, Snapdragon 801 chipset and a 13MP OIS+ camera with laser auto-focus. The device will be hitting South Korea tomorrow, while the rest of the world will get in in the next couple of weeks.

Legion Meter charger promises up to 92% faster charge times for your gadgets

PLX Devices has two successful Kickstarter projects under its belt and it’s back for a third time with the Legion Meter. It’s a small USB device that promises to accelerate charging for your phone (or tablet) compared to just plugging a USB cable in your computer.

Apple users in Australia and New Zealand held at hackpoint

Apple’s Find My iPhone users in Australia have been hacked by someone or a group of people hiding behind the pseudonym Oleg Pliss (otherwise a respected software engineer and technology scientist). Some of the affected devices are put into lost mode with a message saying “device hacked”. Some users report demands of $100 sent by PayPal as ransom.

The information comes from numerous Apple users that have gone to Apple’s support forums complaining about the issue. Allegedly there were also reports from New Zealand users and one Australian currently in London. Read more »

LG G Watch will be able to make calls

Despite having its announcement a while ago, LG is still keeping the G Watch shrouded in mystery. Its key specifications aren’t disclosed just yet, as the company awaits the first Android Wear devices to debut at this year’s Google I/O.

This leaves the G Watch’s features open to speculation and according to industry sources cited by a Korean media outlet, the watch is going to feature a USIM module allowing it to place calls. Not surprisingly, the report suggests LG U+ carrier will be the first to release the G Watch in South Korea. Read more »

LG’s new G Pad 7.0 gets pictured

The LG G Pad 7.0, the smallest in the new series of tablets announced by the Korean company at the MedPi trade show earlier this month, has been pictured in France.

The new hands-on images highlight some odd design choices for LG’s tablet lineup, including a relatively thick waistline and an oddly placed microSD slot on the top of the device. Read more »

AnTuTu Benchmark listing confirms Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 specs

There’s still some time before Samsung officially announces its new duo of Galaxy Tab S tablets on June 12. We already have a general idea of what they’re all about, especially the Galaxy Tab S 10.5″ one, but thanks to a listing from the AnTuTu Benchmark database, we can now see the Galaxy Tab S 8.4 key specs.

Carrying the model number SM-T700, the 8.4″ Tab S rocks an Exynos 5 Octa 5420 chipset with 1.9 GHz quad-core ARM Cortex-A15 and 1.3 GHz quad-core ARM Cortex-A7 CPUs. They’re bundled with an 533MHz ARM Mali-T628 and 3GB of RAM. Internal memory is 32GB, which should be expandable via a microSD card slot, but that’s not yet specified. Read more »
