Today Apple has announced a few important details if you’re craving its first wearable. First off, all Apple Watch orders placed through May will be shipped to customers within the next two weeks, as the company is trying to clear its backlog. The sole exception to this is the 42 mm Watch in Space Black Stainless Steel with Space Black Link Bracelet. It’s unclear when orders of this particular model will ship.

In around two weeks from today, Apple will also finally start selling the Watch in its physical stores. You probably shouldn’t expect all versions of the wearable to be available in all stores, however. The company says “some models” will be making it to Apple retail locations, though. Read more »

An unlucky LG G4 survives a two-hour long dip in water

by 16 comments

The LG G4 is a truly impressive device and in a lot of ways, more traditional than other current flagships. An interesting YouTube video reveals that LG’s latest creation is not just good looking, but also quite tough.

The video itself follows the LG G4 as it spends over two hours submerged in water and manages to stay on in the process. This is quite an impressive feat, especially from a device that has no official IP rating. Still, the internals seem to be sealed off quite efficiently and the only real concern is shorting the battery. Read more »

SoundHound introduces ‘Hound’, a voice search app like no other

by 33 comments

Google recently showed off its machine learning skills at Google I/O, but this is likely to blow even Google’s socks off. Presenting Hound, from the people who made SoundHound, the music recognition app. Hound is an app that uses voice search to find you relevant information, just like Siri or Google Now. Just that it’s way, way better at it.

Hound gives you quick search results for all your queries. You don’t have to mollycoddle it with specific queries that won’t fall within its search parameters. We already got that to quite an extent with Siri and Google Now, both of which can understand natural language fairly well, but they can still only deal with one query at a time. Read more »

Pebble is blaming Apple for the situation, saying that the Cupertino-based company’s App Store review process is responsible for the delay – the smartwatch maker had requested an “expedited” review of the app, which was last submitted on May 22. Read more »
