Micromax Canvas Tab P690 launched with Intel Atom processor inside

Micromax shook hands with Intel to introduce the new Canvas Tab P690 tablet powered by a 4th Generation Intel Atom chipset. Sporting a 7.8mm sleek design, the Canvas Tab 690 flaunts a metallic grey finish and will be sold for INR 8,999 ($145).

The Canvas Tab P690 houses a quad-core 1.3GHz Intel Atom processor with Intel HD graphics coupled with 1GB of RAM. Micromax has used an 8-inch IPS display with WXGA (1280×800) pixel resolution to provide ample screen estate.

With only 8GB on-board storage, the user gets a measly 3.81GB for the apps and multimedia. Thankfully the memory slot can hold up to 32GB microSD card. That will help especially when the 5MP rear camera with autofocus is used for shooting photos and recording HD videos. Also the front facing 2MP camera with fixed focus can be used to take selfies.

Loaded with Android 4.4.4 KitKat, the Canvas Tab 690 is deemed to get the Lollipop update in the future. One can easily put a 3G SIM in and engage in voice calling along with data connectivity. The Wi-Fi support promises faster mobile web and Bluetooth 4.0 ensures faster file transfers. Other things include GPS with A-GPS, 3.5mm audio jack, a micro USB 2.0 port and USB OTG support. The tablet packs a 4000mAh battery which should provide decent run time.

As part of the introductory offer, the users can avail 1GB of 3G data on Vodafone for 2 months, free Saavn Pro music for 3 months, 6-months free premium subscription with Truecaller, free Amazon eBooks worth INR 1,500 ($24), one month free Hello TV subscription, and 500 MAD points.

Thanks for the tip, Bibek Saha!
