Swedish camera manufacturer Hasselblad, known for its high-end medium format cameras, has announced the new H5D-200c MS. The H5D-200c MS combines the best of H4D-200MS and H5D-50c, with the ability to capture 200 megapixel ultra high resolution images with a medium format CMOS sensor.

The H5D-200c MS has a 50 megapixel medium format CMOS sensor. This is only the second Hasselblad camera after the H5D-50c to have a CMOS sensor, as the company has so far only made CCD sensor digital cameras. The camera is able to shift the sensor to take 4 or 6 shots and then combine them into a high resolution image that goes as high as 200 megapixels. Read more »

We heard about Samsung’s virtual reality plans last month after several leaks showed off what a potential Samsung virtual reality headset looked like, followed by a a fairly legitimate look at a Samsung software interface for the Gear VR.

Now, reported images of the Gear VR, model number SM-R320 have surfaced. With IFA 2014 just weeks away in Berlin, it’s very likely that we could see Samsung’s first virtual reality headset at the event. Read more »

The Samsung Galaxy Alpha comes in two versions – one with Samsung’s brand new Exynos 5430 Octa chipset and one with the more common Snapdragon 801 chipset. Both have small 1,860mAh batteries. Small relative to the phone’s size, of course, 4.7″ phones typically have 2,000+ mAh batteries. The Galaxy Alpha is pretty slender though, just 6.7mm, which eats into the available volume for the battery.

It looks like Microsoft has a Google Chromecast competing device in development. Filings in FCC and the Wi-Fi alliance revealed the Redmond giant’s potential plans.

Apple has released the first update to the public beta that was released last month. Unlike the developer version, the public beta is not regularly updated, so this should bring quite a few changes.

The Yosemite public beta 2 is essentially the same as the developer preview 6 that was released earlier this week. It has several design changes, including new iconography throughout the UI (nothing you saw until now was finalized and things keep changing in the betas), new wallpapers, and some other bug fixes and general improvements. The Toronto-based company ChargeSpot Wireless Power announced availability of the first wireless charger with dual standard support. Dubbed ChargeSpot Pocket, the device can charge both Qi and PMA compatible devices.

Opera Software signed a licensing agreement with Microsoft. Under its terms, Opera Mini will become the default web browser for the Redmond giant’s range of low-end phones, where its will replace the currently used Xpress Browser.

The agreement applies to phones which run Series 30+, Series 40, as well as those with the Asha platform. Read more »

According to a report in The Verge, Microsoft plans to unveil Windows 9 on September 30. The Redmond giant is tipped to be planning a press event, where a developer preview of the OS will be revealed.

That new HTC One (M8) for Windows has a name with great potential to confuse consumers – it’s not the HTC One (M8), it’s not the One (E8) and it doesn’t run Windows (but Windows Phone instead). It turns out that the similar looks of the One family are an issue too, even for the carriers.

Walmart has commenced an iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c sales promotion in order to make room for the upcoming iPhone 6 and its alleged two variations.

For the next 90 days, the retailer is selling the 16GB version of the iPhone 5s for $79 – $20 off its previous asking price with a two-year contract price. The iPhone 5c also go its price slashed to $0.99 for the 16GB units. Read more »
