Just as previously rumored, Sony has just announced its next batch of lens cameras – the QX1 and QX30. Both cameras will use your smartphone as a viewfinder, have attaching mechanisms for that smartphone but will also be usable detached.

The QX1 is by far the most interesting lens camera from Sony so far. It has an APS-C sensor (the same in size as those in Sony’s line of interchangeable lens cameras and DSLRs) and uses the E Mount to allow multiple lenses to be used. Read more »

Sony had quite a presence at this year’s IFA in Berlin, and after introducing its new Z3 lineup it’s decided to cap things off with two new wearables.

The SmartWatch 3 will be the company’s first smart device to run on Android Wear, while the SmartBand Talk brings voice communication and telephony to the company’s popular SmartBand fitness tracker. Read more »

Asus has just outed a pair of tablets – one 13.3″ and one 11.6″ – during its press conference at the IFA 2014 expo in Berlin.

The Zenbook UX305 is marketed as “the world’s slimmest 13.3-inch QHD+ laptop,” while the EeeBook X205 is set to offer quad-core Intel Atom device at under €200. Read more »

Toshiba unveiled its own ultra-affordable Windows 8.1 tablet, the Toshiba Encore mini (model number WT7-C16). Priced at just $120, the Encore mini sports a tablet sports a 7″ 1,024 x 600 screen with 16:9 aspect ratio and 5-finger capacitive touch sensor.

The tablet is powered by a quad-core Intel Atom Z3735G processor (1.33GHz clockspeed, 1.83GHz Burst Frequency). Read more »

Acer’s latest foire into Windows convertibles is the R13 laptop. It has a QHD (2560 x 1440) touchscreen display and an Intel Haswell chipset. The most curious thing about it is that Ezel Aero Hinge that has dual-torque design and allows the display to be rotated and the ultrabook to convert into six distinct body-to-screen configurations.

You can use the R13 laptop in the notebook, stand, tent and three other positions. Both the top plate of the device and the display are covered by Gorilla Glass 3. Read more »

After failing to make any dent whatsoever in the gaming market, OUYA has now looking for companies to acquire their business. According to Re/code, the company is in talks with Chinese companies, along with a few others.

OUYA started life as a Kickstarter project and was one of the more successful ones. The $99 Android based gaming console sounded like a good idea in theory but odd decisions such as having their own store, making it compulsory for every game to be free, and the mediocre hardware meant it failed to take off. Lenovo has announced an 8-inch Android based tablet at IFA 2014. It seems like a simple enough device but has decent specifications for the price.

The TAB S8 has a 8.0-inch, 1920×1200 resolution IPS display, Intel Atom Z3745 SoC with quad-core 1.86GHz CPU, 2GB RAM, 16GB internal memory, 8 megapixel rear camera, 1.6 megapixel front camera, stereo speakers with Dolby sound, 7 hours of battery life and Android 4.4 KitKat. Read more »

Lenovo is preparing to launch a new series of Yoga tablets at IFA this year. One of them is the Yoga Tablet 2-930LC, with a name that just rolls off the tongue.

The Yoga Tablet 2-930LC has a curved edge similar to the first Sony Tablet S to make it easier to hold in one hand but the curve also hides an integrated kickstand that can be used to prop up the tablet at an angle. Read more »

Motorola Moto G 4G turned out a great smartphone on its own and an excellent upgrade over the original Moto G. It adds 4G LTE connectivity, a microSD card slot, a brighter screen backlight and a gyro sensor to the already well proven hardware mix of the 4.5″ HD display, Snapdragon 400 chipset, 5MP camera and 2,070 mAh battery.

The new smartphone is running on the latest available Android 4.4.4 KitKat revision, but so is the Moto G already. We didn’t expect much of a difference in the battery performance, but we were wrong. Read more »

The HTC Desire 510 has all the making of the latest entry-level HTC smartphone, running Android 4.4 with the company’s in-house Sense 6 overlay. But under the hood hides a smartphone first: Qualcomm’s first chipset capable of 64-bit operations.

The Snapdragon 410 processor is the first of many upcoming 64-bit processors that the company expects to release this year, which it hopes will lead the transition to mobile 64-bit processing. The Meizu MX4 went official hours ago, but that’s not the only piece of tech the company revealed today. The company also announced a smartwatch from InWatch to complement its latest smartphone.

The two companies have teamed up to reveal the InWatch Pi MX4 Edition. It’s a round watch, but it’s not as smart as a Moto 360 is, as it doesn’t have Andoird Wear in board. The (smart)watch is more like a ‘connected watch’ for the lack of any better name for this category of products. Read more »

A huge flock of press images have surfaced on the web that show off the latest lens camera from Sony – the ILCE-QX1, called the QX1 in short. It’s the successor to Sony’s QX10 and QX100, which were shown on IFA 2013 and were essentially a cameras with their own lens and sensor but that could be attached to a smartphone and use its screen as a viewfinder.

The QX10 had a 1/2.3″ sensor (around the same size as an Xperia Z2′s sensor) while the QX100 had a much bigger 1.0″ one. The leaked QX1 takes things to a whole new level with an APS-C-sized sensor and the option to swap E Mount lenses. The device should share an image sensor with one of Sony’s interchangeable lens cameras like the current flagship APS-C in Sony’s line 24MP α6000 or 20MP α5000, for instance. Read more »
