ARM Q4 profits exceed analyst predictions

British-based chip designer ARM posted a pre-tax profit of roughly $125.9 million, up 16% in the fourth quarter.

‘Little Inferno’ for iPad game review

Little Inferno made its public debut last year as one of the launch titles for the Nintendo Wii U. Made by the designers of the popular game World of Goo and Henry Hatsworth, the game was lauded for its unique gameplay and won many awards. After that it was released on Steam and has now made an appearance on the mobile platform with the iPad version.

There is a pyromaniac in every one of us and that’s whom the game is made for. You simply set fire to things in this game, and then do it in various combos to create bigger fires and earn more points. Asus ME301T MemoPad 10 press images leak

Only a few days into this year several Asus tablets leaked – a couple of 7” models and a 10” one. The 7-inchers are already official, but their larger sibling is not. Its press images come ahead of the official announcement though, so here’s the Asus ME301T MemoPad 10.

Currently available info points to a 10.1” screen of 1,280 x 800 pixel resolution and a Tegra 3 chipset (quad-core Cortex-A9 with a fifth power-saving core, GeForce graphics, 1GB of RAM). The tablet will sport 16GB of built-in storage and probably a microSD card too. Read more »

UA profiles for next-gen Samsung Galaxy tablets leak, we may see a Galaxy Note with the Nexus 10 screen

User Agent profiles are a long time favorite of the rumor mill and they deliver again – three new model designations of Samsung tablets were discovered, presumably the Tab 3 series. The profiles give nothing but model number and screen resolution, but with a bit mode digging, we found out a bit more.

The top-end model is the GT-P8200, which packs a 2,560 x 1,600 pixel screen, the same as the Google Nexus 10 (manufactured by Samsung). AnTuTu scores for the P8200 list the OS as 4.2.1 Jelly Bean and the CPU clock speed as 1.7GHz. Read more »

NVIDIA allegedly to manufacture low-cost Android devices for other companies

Following the rather modest success of the Tegra platform in the smartphone and tablet segment, it seems NVIDIA is now gunning for a bigger share of the pie, so far dominated by the likes of Qualcomm and Mediatek.

It’s just been a few months since Apple launched the fourth generation model of the iPad with Retina display and we have already started seeing leaks of the next generation model, expected to go on sale later this year.

Amazon Kindle Fire crowned the most popular Android slate, accounts for 37% of all droid tablets

A research carried out by mobile app analytics service Localytics shows that despite the fuss the Google Nexus 7 generated, the Amazon Kindle Fire range of tablets is the one with to dominate the Android market.

ZTE announces the 8-inch V81 slate with a 4:3 display

ZTE has unveiled the V81 slate featuring an 8-inch 4:3 display with a resolution of 1024×768 pixels, which is ready to take on the Apple’s iPad mini and Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Note 8.0.

Apple started seeding out iOS 6.1 Beta 5 to registered iOS developers over the weekend. The update comes over a month after the last update was released to developers.
