Adobe’s Photoshop Touch may not be quite in the same league as its desktop counterpart but compared to other image editing applications available on mobile it does allow you to do a heck of a lot more.

The app was so far only available on tablets on both the platforms and was optimized for the bigger 10-inch displays. In the latest v1.4 release, however, Adobe has optimized it for smaller tablet displays. The UI is now optimized for the iPad mini and 7-inch Android tablets, such as the Nexus 7, up to a minimum resolution of 1024 x 600. Read more »

Google has updated their Google Drive and Chrome apps on both the platforms.

The new Google Drive app gets a slew of new features but the biggest one is the ability to edit spreadsheet within the apps, which makes it so much more useful now. Read more »

Microsoft has released the Outlook.com app for Android. It is, as you would expect, an email client for your Outlook (previous Hotmail) account. What you wouldn’t expect is just how badly made this app from Microsoft is.

Recently, Google updated the comment system on YouTube and allowed users to use their Google+ profile ID in place of a generic YouTube ID to appear next to their comments. Now they have done something similar for the Google Play.

Now when you try to leave a review on Google Play, it will tell you that your reviews will appear under your Google+ profile ID. Unlike with YouTube, however, you don’t really get any say in the matter. Read more »

A while back Google unveiled indoor plans for Google Maps on Android smartphones. As of today, the service is also available on the desktop web version, which you probably use on your computer.

Not only that, but the map data is no longer limited to places in France, but has now been expanded to include select locations and places of interest in Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Japan, the UK, the US, Sweden, and Switzerland. Read more »

Nokia has updated its Nokia Transport (known as Transit in North America) for Windows Phone 8 with a revamped interface. The company is also working on apps for Windows Phone 7 and even Symbian, but those are in beta right now.

Firefox for Android has so far been exclusive to device running on ARMv7 processors but this limited it to mostly recent, high-end device. However, with the latest update, Mozilla has expanded the number of devices that can now support Firefox.

Firefox for Android can now be installed on devices with ARMv6 processors, which includes phones such as HTC Status, HTC ChaCha, Samsung Galaxy Ace, Motorola Fire XT and LG Optimus Q. Considering almost half of the 500 million Android devices out there are running on ARMv6 processors, this means a vast number of people can now install Firefox on their Android smartphones. Hot on the heels of Facebook’s mobile app update, Twitter updated its native mobile apps for iOS and Android, too. The changes concern mostly search and Discover on the mobile platforms.

Discover is Twitter’s auto-generated stream of tweets, suited to your interests and generally coming from outside your regular network. The latest developments to Discover are now available to the mobile apps with “a completely re-done the back-end and user interface”. Read more »
