Canonical’s Ubuntu Edge smartphone project is losing steam and at the time of writing have raised close to $10 million. Sadly, with the pace the campaign goes, it’s impossible to reach the 32 million target by August 22, when it ends.

Sony DSC-QX10 and DSC-QX100 smartphone lens-cameras leak out alongside the upcoming Honami i1

Sony’s soon to be revealed attachable smartphone lens-cameras have appeared in high-resolution images. Dubbed DSC-QX10 and DSC-QX100, the gadgets pack a lens, sensor, card slot and image processor.

The lens-cameras will attach to a smartphone, therefore transforming it into a high-end point and shoot snapper via a wireless connection. The handset’s display will work as a viewfinder (a dedicated app will more than likely be involved in the process). Read more »

Apple iPhone 5S leaked parts point to a dual LED flash

Apple is tipped to unveil its next-generation iPhone and the much anticipated low-budget iPhone, on September 10. The two smartphones are reportedly going to be called iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C, respectively, and have already stared in numerous leaks. The latest rumors, includes a few photos of the spare parts that are allegedly destined for the iPhone 5S and confirm the presence of a dual LED flash.

The leaked images show us the elongated hole for the flash that are widely used to house dual LED flash. The port is very small for the usual Xenon flash, so if the leaked images are to be trusted, the iPhone 5S will indeed come out with a dual LED flash. Read more »

LG charges the Android hill: LG G2 vs Samsung Galaxy S4 vs HTC One

LG is storming the Android hill once again with its latest flagship smartphone, the G2. Dropping the Optimus moniker doesn’t mean the company is skimping on features. Powered by the mighty Snapdragon 800 chipset with four Krait 400 cores clocked at 2.3GHz, an Adreno 330 GPU and 2GB of RAM, the LG G2 simply blows the competition out of the water in terms of processing prowess.

UPDATED: HTC teases One Max in a six-second video

With the hashtag #HTChange comes a video with the title Big things ahead, which HTC posted on its Facebook page. The video originally comes from Instagram and it’s only 6 seconds long.

The video doesn’t really say much but it does give a brief glimpse of a device that we’re guessing is the centerpiece of an upcoming HTC announcement. The device looks very much like the HTC One and One mini so it’s almost certainly the upcoming 5.9″ HTC One Max. That would also explain the “Big things” tagline of the video. Read more »
