MIUI v5 is now available for the HTC One as a custom ROM

MIUI is one of the most famous Android launchers out there and now it’s available for HTC One users as an easy to flash ROM.

Based on AOSP version of Android 4.2.2 via a fork of the CyanogenMod ROM, the MIUI v5 for HTC One is reported as a pretty stable replacement of the Sense UI experience that the stock HTC One provides. Many owners say it’s much prettier, too. Read more »

Samsung’s latest Galaxy S4 commercial bashes Apple with the help of dancing ninjas and a goat

Samsung Iceland released an odd, yet hilarious ad for the Galaxy S4, which takes a jab at the Apple iPhone in a never before seen fashion. The ad metaphorically highlights the advantages of the Korean flagship by employing a team of dancing ninjas and (get ready for this) a goat.

The plot of the ad is quite simple. In the beginning, a guy tries to interact with an apple as if it is an actual smartphone with “predictable” results. Read more »

Sony’s my Xperia app comes out of beta – to be available globally soon

Back in February, we brought you word of Sony’s beta test for its new ‘my Xperia’ app, a service which allows you to locate a lost Xperia smartphone.

Early HTC Butterfly S benchmarks show it beats HTC One, trades blows with Samsung Galaxy S4

Early benchmarks for the HTC Butterfly S are in and unsurprisingly it muscles the HTC One out of the way. It gives other flagships a run for their money too, topping several benchmarks and coming close to the top in the rest. And this is with early, unfinished software too.

The Butterfly S packs a Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 chipset with four Krait 300 CPU cores clocked at 1.9GHz, Adreno 320 GPU and 2GB of RAM. Those are the same specs as the Samsung I9505 Galaxy S4 and better than the HTC One (same chipset, but CPU is at 1.7GHz, GPU is probably clocked lower too). Read more »

Nokia videos tell of the company’s innovations in mobile phone imaging

Nokia has a long history of bringing innovative camera tech to the mobile phone market and it has prepared several videos celebrating that. Part of their success is due to its exclusive collaboration with Carl Zeiss (now just ZEISS), which is famous for precision instruments – Zeiss optics have won three technical Oscars according to one of the clips.

White Nexus 4 runs out of stock, no longer available for sale on Play Store

The white color variant of the Google Nexus 4 was officially made available in few selected markets that included Hong Kong, Asia, North America, Europe and the Middle East. Surprisingly, the stocks of the White Nexus 4 are already sold out and the white variant of the Nexus 4, which seems to be a limited edition will no longer be available on the Google Play Store.

The 8 GB and the 16 GB versions, which made their way to the United States, just over a month ago are no longer available for sale on the internet giant’s online store. Read more »

Mysterious device running Intel’s Bay Trail crushes the competition in AnTuTu

Last week we reported on an alleged AnTuTu benchmark score of the brand new Sony Xperia Z Ultra running on the new Snapdragon 800 chipset with four Krait 400 cores wiping out the competition, including the upcoming (alleged) Galaxy S4 Advanced.

Latest BlackBerry Q10 ad brags about cool gesture-based UI

BlackBerry has outed a new TV advertisement for the US, promoting the touch gestures available in BlackBerry OS 10.1. The star of the show is the QWERTY-packing BlackBerry Q10, which is used to show just how much you can do in a short period of time.

The ad demonstrates that you can change your Facebook status without actually opening the social network’s app. Quickly browsing and sharing photos and other content is demoed in the TV spot as well. Read more »
