When the video of the ‘Wake Up’ protest outside the Australian Apple Store hit the Internet, it was generally assumed that Samsung would be behind this, considering their track record of taking jabs at Apple. But later when asked about this, the company denied being behind it.
A few days ago, Mactalk‘s James Croft went through the source code of the Wake Up page and found clues that pointed towards RIM’s Australian website. The date that the website was counting down to was also speculated as the approximate release date for the BlackBerry 10. Despite being the co-founder of Apple, Steve Wozniak is known to use products from competing brands and publicly speak and praise them as he sees fit. So when he was asked about Windows Phone 7 by A New Domain, he did not hesitate to speak his mind.
As anyone would guess, Woz finds Windows Phone to be visually a lot superior to Android, going as far as saying that there is no contest between the two. He seemed to be especially in love with the transition animations and the simplicity of the UI, which makes it immediately apparent to the user what they have to do next. In comparison, he thinks that the Android UI is a lot more complex and requires prior knowledge on part of the user. Read more »

Good news for mobile gamers came today as two of the most popular smartphone and tablet titles, Angry Birds Space and Cut the Rope, got updated with new levels.
Angry Birds Space got a new chapter – Fry Me to the Moon. It contains 10 icy levels. The update also brings 20 space eagles for free plus you will get one free space eagle for each day you log into the game starting tomorrow. Read more »
Apple has announced its financial results for the fiscal second quarter of 2012 that ended in March 31, 2012. Their total revenue for this quarter was $39.2 billion and the quarterly net profit was $11.6 billion. In comparison, the figures were $24.7 billion and $6.0 billion respectively for the same quarter last year.
As usual, the iPhone did very well this quarter, with Apple selling 35.1 million of those, up by 88 percent compared to year-ago quarter. Sales were down compared to the first quarter, however, where Apple managed to sell 37.04 million iPhones, the reason for this being chalked down to the holiday season that boosted the sales in the previous quarter. Microsoft has just updated its SkyDrive app on iOS and Windows Phone to version 2.0. The application now supports the iPad, including the Retina screen on the latest one, and there are other new tidbits meant to make the life of the users of both platforms a lot easier.
To start with, you can now choose multiple images or videos to upload from your device. The full lists follows below.
Update: Microsoft has also released desktop apps for Windows and MacOS allowing you a local access to your files in lieu of what Dropbox does. These aps are just preview versions, but they are a clear sign of what’s coming. Now it’s Google’s turn to come up with a stronger card. Read more »

Logitech has launched a new posh cover for the recently released Apple iPad 3. Unlike the plethora of covers available for the Apple tablet, this one features a Bluetooth keyboard built in, so you could type you way out of any situation.
Also compatible with the iPad 2, the Logitech Ultrathin Keyboard Cover features the usual array of magnet strips used for the automatic screen wake-up and position lock for, sadly, just one tilt angle. Its keyboard, however, could survive as long as 6 months on a single batch of fresh batteries, if you use it for two hours a day. Read more »
If you like reading on your phone then you may have used or heard of Read it Later. One of the most popular reading apps around, Read it Later allowed you to mark sites on your desktop browser for reading later and then when you go to the mobile app you would find them there properly formatted for the display of your smartphone.
Read it Later has now gone through a major redesign and is now called Pocket. The developers have changed almost every visible aspect of the application, and it looks almost nothing like the old one. Rumors about Google’s own cloud file sharing service dubbed Drive have been roaming the Internet for quite a while now. There are strong indications the launch is imminent and, now we hear it will be happening as early as next week.

Apple doesn’t usually hire celebrities to endorse their products. In fact, the last time I remember they hired somewhat popular actors was in their Get a Mac series of ads with Justin Long and John Hodgman back in 2009. So it’s curious to see popular actress Zooey Deschanel and all-round badass Samuel L. Jackson in the latest iPhone 4S commercials airing in the US.
Both the ads revolve around Siri, with the actors finding out things and getting things done using only their voice. It’s the usual stuff, like finding out a restaurant nearby, settings or cancelling reminders, and playing music. Stuff that we have seen before in older 4S ads, except this time it’s a bit special because of the actors. Read more »
