Two all-time favorites from the glory days of id Software have now made their way to the Palm Pre (of all devices), continuing our retro 3D shooter theme.
Say hello to Doom and Quake. Although it’s been a while since these games were new, I suspect you’ll have fun playing them nonetheless. Especially, when they’re only at arm’s length wherever you go. Read more »
Right before the start of the new year, let’s jump back a decade for some retro gaming. Duke Nukem Forever may have turned out to be vaporware but that doesn’t negate the fond memories from playing Duke Nukem 3D.
You can find various ports of the game for Windows, Linux and Mac OS X but better still, you can now get it on your Nokia N900… Read more »
OK, I admit, I’m not sure if I’ll be able to find a proper application for this wireless keyboard/trackball combo but I just love it and I want it. Its killer looks and fair price turn it into a must-have no matter if you’re a high tech junkie or just like to be surrounded by nice looking things.
What’s stopping me of buying it (and the cause for my sleep disorders) is that it’s not something I’d use every day and so my practical side is putting a really good fight with my “I-want-it-now” side. But allow me to indulge myself with a quick walkthrough of the features of that mouse/keyboard crossbreed. Read more »
Even if you haven’t heard, you should have felt it: yesterday was this year’s shortest day. It was also the day YouTube links got shorter. So, don’t be scared next time when you see a link starting with “youtu.be” – it will get you a YouTube video. At first you might not realize how useful that change indeed is. But think twice: as of yesterday you’re able to share any YouTube videos using much less characters. And that’s quite an advantage to you twitters.
Some people have real troubles watching a 3D movie. With the premiere of the James Cameron’s Avatar, which is meant to be seen in 3D or IMAX will make many of those suffer instead of enjoying the movie.
It turns out that the solution of getting out of the cinema without a headache is simple. And it doesn’t involve leaving 2 hours before the movie ends.
A day ago the social network Twitter was hacked by a group called “Iranian Cyber Army”. There is no harm done to the servers and databases, the attack just compromised the DNS records and redirected to a new web site, instead of Twitter.
Boy, bit.ly sure isn’t standing still. Soon after they introduced bit.ly Pro, here they are showing off their new toy – bitly.tv
In related news, goo.gl, Google’s URL shortner that used to be reserved for Google Toolbar and Feedburner users, can now be used as a generic URL shortener, though not officially. Read more »
Teasing with movie posters is one thing, but watching trailers is far more pleasing and intriguing. So here they are – a fantastic four of new trailers. Iron Man 2, Alice in Wonderland and Robin Hood make their first debut, while the Prince of Persia gets featured for the second time. Awesome!
Everyone likes Christmas lights, but have you ever wondered how they were invented? Well, someone at Gizmodo sure did. They have an extensive post detailing how the world went from the first electric light bulb to the first Christmas lights setup.
In the olden days, people used candles but that was before Thomas Edison came along. As one of the pioneers of electricity and light bulbs (plus a bit of talent for showmanship) he was the perfect guy to kickstart the whole Christmas light decoration thing.
Three new official movie posters made my day – Iron Man 2, Clash of the Titans and TRON, while The Sorcerer’s Apprentice received its first theatrical trailer.
If you are looking for a stress-relieving calendar and you are already tired of all those pseudo motivational photos, you might want to check this out. The 2010 Bubble calendar gives you a poster-sized piece of bubble wrap, where you need to pop one balloon each day to track the date.
I’ll probably remember 2009 as the year of my total surrender to Web 2.0. I’ve practically moved all my personal stuff up there in the Google cloud of web applications. I’ve got my calendars, my contacts, some of my documents, family photos, family videos, and my primary email account all sitting nicely in Google’s control. They all sync and play nicely with my smartphone, I have access to them wherever I go and best of all, it’s all free.
I’m already way beyond the “just trying how things will work out” phase and I have committed fully to this relationship.
And then you stumble into one of those funny videos. And it just makes you think – what if…
When we are talking a projector-equipped handset like the newly revealed LG GW820 eXpo words are not quite enough to give you an exact idea of its capabilities. Luckily, here comes the first hand-on video demonstrating what the eXpo’s all about.
I’m sure the huge success of the first Iron Man movie surprised even its creators, so they immediately started making its sequel. And I’m sure Robert Downey Jr will rock the white screen once again.
A few months after the announcement of the sequel, it was confirmed that Tony Stark (the Iron Man character) will also have a part in the upcoming The Avengers, scheduled for 2012. Well, there is a lot of time until we see any of these movies, but here’s the first official Iron Man 2 poster. The release date of 7 May 2010 seems so distant.
While you are waiting for the official high quality trailer (which should be released this month), you can enjoy the leaked 5 minutes teaser from the Comic Con last summer. Read more »
Have an iPhone and miss the reassuring clicks and feedback of a REAL keyboard? Regardless of its generation, the iPhone has always been a great messaging (read: mailing) device but even after the added landscape software keyboard there is still no hardware one. Up until now. Thanks to 4iThumbs.
