At the press day before CES 2013 officially kicks off Intel unveiled its fourth-generation Intel Core processor, which will reportedly be able to extend the battery life of latest mobile PCs to 9 hours.

Formerly known as Haswell the new chipset is made with ultrabooks-slash-tablets in mind and could reach 13 hours of battery when docked to a keyboard. Read more »

Samsung has announced the Series 7 SC770 touch monitor, the first of its kind by Samsung. The monitor has been designed with Windows 8 in mind and has a multi-touch display that supports up to 10 touch points at a time.

The monitor also has a adjustable stand that allows you to tilt the display up to 60 degrees, making it easier to use the touchscreen. The 24-inch panel has a resolution of 1920 x 1080 with a viewing angle of 178 degrees. Read more »

Intel’s Ivy Bridge CPUs took some time getting here and their replacements are already on the horizon – a leaked spec table details the first round of Haswell processors that are coming in Q2 of 2013. Haswell is a Tock in Intel’s Tick Tock strategy – same manufacturing process as before (22nm), but a new microarchitecture.

The new CPUs are Core i7 and i5 models, both standard and low-power versions. The flagship model is the Core i7 4770K with four cores (eight threads) clocked at 3.5GHz with Turbo Boost up to 3.9GHz and 8MB of cache. Read more »

Designed by Apple in California. Assembled in USA. – This is what lots of new iMac owners noticed engraved on the back of their computers. A while ago there were some iMacs assembled in the US according to the retail box, not the aluminum back, but they were believed to be refurbished.

The Memory Solution CIO Forum 2012 in South Korea is in full swing today and Samsung has announced its new line-up of DDR3 RAM and SSD built using the 20nm manufacturing process.

In addition to the new 13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display, Apple announced the refreshed Mac mini and iMac lineups at its event tonight.

For the Mac mini you can now choose between dual-core i5 and quad-core i7 processors, up to 16GB RAM, up to two 1TB hard drives or 256GB SSD. Wi-Fi n connectivity and Bluetooth 4.0 are also on board. Read more »

Dell is introduced its lineup of upcoming PCs, running the new Windows 8 operating system.

There’s the new tablet-slash-ultrabook called XPS 12, the XPS 13 ultrabook has received an Ivy Bridge update, while the XPS One 27 and Inspiron One 23 All-in-Ones got touch-enabled screens. Razer has announced two new products for the gaming populace. The first is a keyboard called DeathStalker that comes with Razer’s Switchblade UI on a touchscreen display placed next to the keyboard. We first saw this UI on Razer’s Switchblade concept and then on the Razer Blade laptop and the Star Wars: The Old Republic gaming keyboard.

The DeathStalker keyboard comes with the same basic system that has ten configurable keys on top to which you can assign any function. Each key has a color display within that shows the icon of the function you have assigned to the key. Below the keys is the LCD touchscreen that displays game related information and can also work as a trackpad to control your mouse pointer. Read more »

Acer’s CEO JT Wang has some words of wisdom for Microsoft and they involve telling them not to enter the tablet market, which is exactly what Microsoft plans to do with the Surface.

While everyone assumed that Microsoft’s decision to enter the hardware manufacturing business will not go down well with their OEM partners, these companies were strangely quiet initially. Razer has announced the latest entrant in its gaming series of mice, called the Ouroboros. Keeping with their tradition of naming their products after extinct or mythical creatures, the Ouroboros mouse shares its name with an ancient symbol depicting a serpent swallowing its own tail and forming a circle.

The Ouroboros has got quite an interesting design. It has a customizable design that reminds one of the Cyborg R.A.T.7, although it is not quite as customizable. What you can do on the Ouroboros is adjust the length of the back arch, making the mouse longer. The arch also tilts so you can have a shape that fits your palm best. Read more »

When AMD released the HD 7970 last year, it was the fastest single-GPU graphics card on the market. That was until NVIDIA launched their GTX 680, which took the crown from AMD and left the 7970 with a bloody nose.

Samsung has unveiled the multimedia-centric Series 5 Boost laptop for Korea and updated its Series 9, 5 and 3 ultrabooks with low-power Ivy Bridge processors.

The Series 5 Boost will come in 15″ and 17″ flavors, with a bright (300 nit) 1600 x 900 resolution display, JBL stereo speakers and either a Core i5 or i7 Ivy Bridge processor. Read more »
