A little after Samsung’s new Siri-killer app S Voice leaked, the South Korean company blocked it on non-Galaxy S III devices. Now that restriction seems to have been lifted as the app started working again, even on phones by other manufacturers.

Earlier this month, when Samsung announced the Galaxy S III at London, they also announced that they will be starting a new range of retain stores called the Samsung Mobile PIN. The first of these miniature stores will open in London on May 29, the same day the Galaxy S III will go on sale in Europe.

As we have explained before, these PIN stores are small so they can be moved from one location to another and are meant to be placed within popular destinations such as malls. They are meant to give people hands-on experience with the phone and also the option to purchase it. Read more »

Since last year, HTC started giving users the option to unlock the bootloader on their phones if that is what they wished for. However, the AT&T One X was not part of the list of handsets for which HTC is offering the unlock. The reason for this was widely believed to be AT&T, although HTC never actually officially mentioned that.

Of course, it was only a matter of time before the people at xda-developers, who view restrictions as hurdles instead of a dead ends, managed to get the phone unlocked and as usual they have come through. Read more »

The Samsung Galaxy Pocket has come for a visit so we got out the camera and filmed the whole thing. It’s among the smallest Android handsets around and is evidence of Samsung’s determination to conquer Android from the low through the mid and finally the high range.

Everything about the Galaxy Pocket screams compromise, the specs sheet that can fit on a napkin, the retail package that is as modest as they come but all of this promises a price not too many smartphones can compete against. Read more »

Google added the ability to purchase content from within the apps on the Play Store through in-app billing last year. This allowed developers to sell additional content to their users from within the app, content such as extra levels, extra currency to purchase in-game items and special abilities.

Google has now also added in-app subscription option to the Play Store. The difference between in-app billing and in-app subscription is that subscriptions are recurring and automatically renew themselves after a specific period. Read more »

We just talked about some great discounts on EA games on the App Store. But why should iOS users have all the fun? Now thanks to the ‘Because We May’ campaign, you can get great discounts on Android, OS X and Steam as well.

The purpose of this campaign is simple. Developers should be allowed to price their apps as they please. If they want to drop their prices because they want to promote their titles, they should be free to do so. Through this campaign, some of the developers have come together and offered to price their games at a discounted rates for the duration of May 24 to June 1. Rumors have been flying around about a version of Microsoft Office for the iOS for a while now but now BGR is reporting that not only will there be a version of Office for iOS but also for Android and both will be launching together in November.

This information comes from one of their sources who has seen the application running on an iPad and says that it looks identical to the one we have seen before. After that image first came out, Microsoft later said that the screenshot in the picture was fake but The Daily, who leaked the screenshot, said it was authentic and that it was someone from Microsoft who demoed it to them. The Galaxy Note 10.1 has gone through yet another revision. This time, Samsung has added a slot on the side to hold the stylus – or the S Pen as they call it – when it is not being used.

Samsung had to slim down the stylus so that it could take up less place on the side but will be offering an S Pen Holder Kit, which has a much thicker form factor that should be a lot easier to use. Read more »

Samsung has once again released the source code for the Galaxy Note. The difference between this release and the last one, however, is that the latest one includes the source code for the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich kernel.

Raspberry Pi, be very, very careful! You are not the only ultra cheap PC out there any more, as VIA launches its own fully functional computer, which costs next to nothing.

Dubbed “APC”, this cheap PC runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread and carries a $49 price tag. This is slightly more expensive than the $25/$35 Raspberr Pi, but you also get better specs. Read more »

EA has released the Android version of the Mass Effect Infiltrator, introduced first on iOS back in February. The game is based on Mass Effect 3 but follows a different story line.

Even though the games are different, they are still connected. In fact it is recommended that you play this game before you start playing Mass Effect 3 because of the way this game affects your gameplay in ME3. As you play Infiltrator, your progress is logged and uploaded to Galaxy at War. If you complete this game you will get additional abilities while playing ME3 and it will also affect your story line and the ending of ME3. Read more »

In our review of the HTC Evo 4G LTE, we noted that the Sprint Wireless exclusive smartphone one ups its AT&T relative – the HTC One X, on a couple of instances. The bigger, 2000 mAh battery is one of the Evo features, which is certain to make the owners of its polycarbonate bodied relative jealous.

ST-Ericsson and Samsung officially unveiled what many already suspected – Samsung is using NovaThor chipsets for more than the Galaxy S Advance. The other two phones that make use of the platform are the pico-projector packing I8530 Galaxy Beam and the mid-range dual-core droid, the Galaxy Ace 2 (which just went on sale in the UK and Germany, by the way).

The Samsung I8530 Galaxy Beam packs a NovaThor U8500 with its two Cortex-A9 cores clocked at 1GHz and a Mali-400 GPU. Read more »
