While the latest version of Android – version 4.3 – has made its way to Galaxy Nexus devices and Google Play editions of the HTC One and Galaxy S4, most of us have to wait a while more before we see it on other devices.

Google has issued a new update for its Glass smart eye-wear, which adds new Google Now cards as well as bringing updates for already existing ones. Furthermore, there are a bunch of new voice commands as well as the ability to fast forward/rewind videos you’re watching in order to get to a certain part that you’re interested in.

The new Google Now cards now include ones for restaurants, hotels and events that allow you to book and get reminded of already existing reservations. Another new card is in charge of movies and brings information for upcoming titles and their screening times in nearby theaters. The last newly added Google Now card to Glass is for emergency alerts – it’ll only show up when there’s a severe thunderstorm or flash flood warning in your area. Read more »

The Nokia Lumia 1020 will be featured in a lot of head to head battles and today it’s time to tackle the Samsung Galaxy S4 zoom. The Lumia 1020 has its large, high resolution sensor (1/1.5″ 41MP) to rely on, while the S4 zoom boasts 10x zoom that’s something you just don’t see on a device with full phone capabilities.

Those lead to different strengths, like much better bokeh effect from the Lumia 1020, while the S4 zoom is true to its name and wins hands down when it comes to zoom. Read more »

After recently having being diagnosed with GPS connectivity issues, owners of the new Nexus 7 tablet are now complaining about the erratic performance of multi-touch functionality on the display.

According to reports, the display often registers phantom touches on the screen when you try to use more than one finger. This is most easily observed while typing as the device presses wrong keys on the keyboard. Read more »

Carrying premium design features is always welcome for any dual-SIM smartphone out there, but the HTC Desire 600 dual sim isn’t just for show. Its main purpose is to be available when needed especially considering its call for double duty.

At first glance the dual-SIM droid from HTC doesn’t seem likely to impress here, as it packs a relatively modest 1860mAh battery. Hopefully, HTC has done the necessary Android and Sense 5 UI optimizations to make the most out of the available juice. Read more »

Being an early adopter is not all fun and games. Although you get to use the latest and greatest technology before everybody else, you are also often the first one to face issues that someone who may buy later won’t have to deal with.

A similar situation has arisen for the owners of the new Nexus 7 tablet, which despite its excellent specs and price, isn’t free from glitches. According to a report by our colleagues over at Geek.com, Google has chosen ASUS to manufacture the refreshed Nexus 10 slate instead of sticking with Samsung. The information comes from an unknown retailer listing which ties ASUS to the second-gen Nexus 10 slate.

The filling has placeholder dimensions, weight and release date for the tablet, making its authenticity quite questionable. However, it wouldn’t be such a stretch for ASUS to be responsible for the Nexus-line of tablets, considering it’s been producing the original Nexus 7 as well as the 2013 version of the 7″ tablet and both of those are shaping to be quite successful. Huawei Ascend P6 is widely advertised as the world’s slimmest smartphone to date. Indeed there is no thinner smartphone in our database so far and we just had to see it live. And here it is – the Ascend P6 knocking on our office doors.

Huawei Ascend P6 is powered by company’s home-brewed chipset – the K3V2 – featuring a quad-core 1.5GHz Cortex-A9 processor, a 16-core unnamed graphics unit and 2GB of RAM. ClockworkMod Recovery developer Koushik Dutta has made some tweaks to the CyanogenMod ROM allowing you to play any video or audio file on your phone directly to your Chromecast connected TV.

Mr. Dutta has directly baked in the media playing functionality into the ROM’s framework. This means that even if the media app, be it video or audio, hasn’t yet utilized the Chromecast API, streaming would still work. Read more »

Rumors of Nvidia wanting to build its own tablet have been doing the rounds for a couple of months now, but they will probably gain even more traction now that we got leaked photos of an Tegra-4 powered Tegra Tab slate.

ASUS has announced that the European version of the second generation Nexus 7 tablet will go on sale in the UK on August 28. Although the tablet was announced couple of weeks ago and went on sale in the US last week, the European launch dates weren’t revealed until now.

In terms of pricing, the 16GB Wi-Fi-only model will cost £199.99 and the 32GB variant will be priced at £239.99 and will be available through multiple retailers along with the Play Store. Read more »

Google unveiled its own music stream service at its I/O event, three months ago. The on-demand service was initial available only in US, but Google has now expanded it to cover 10 more countries.

Canonical’s crowd-funding project, aiming to raise $32 million in order to make its Ubuntu Edge device a reality was off to a fast start, making $2 million in the first 8 hours, but it slowed down shortly after and it seems it stands little chance it will achieve its goal by August 21.

Now with the clear mindset of making the next 14 days count Canonical is slashing the price of the Ubuntu Edge (once as high as $775) to $695, citing cut manufacturing costs as the reason. The price will remain like that for the rest of the campaign and there won’t be any more price hikes. Read more »
