Google Maps Navigation arrives in India, brings turn by turn voice navigation and traffic updates

Although the basic Google Maps service has been available in India for years now, some of the fancier features such as Navigation remained unavailable. That is, until now.

Google has now enabled the Navigation feature in India, which means now along with being able to get driving directions you will also have a voice reading them out so you can focus on the road instead of your phone’s display. Read more »

Rovio announces ‘Bad Piggies’, arriving on September 27

Having let you successfully fling birds at pigs using slingshots in all sorts of environments for the past three years, Rovio is now turning things around and letting you control the pigs for the first time in their upcoming game.

Called ‘Bad Piggies’, this game will tell you the pigs’ side of the story and also let you play as them but without any slingshots and a ‘never-before seen’ gameplay. Read more »

New Nokia teaser video hints at augmented reality app for upcoming Windows Phone 8 devices

Nokia has released yet another teaser video for their upcoming event on September 5. Unlike the last one, which did not tell us much other than how not to ride a bicycle, this one seems to be hinting at something.

Steam to enter the gaming hardware market

There have been rumors floating around that Steam is planning on entering the gaming hardware market, either by making their own console or a gaming PC. Now Steam has finally come forth and confirmed that it does indeed plan on entering the gaming hardware segment.

Alleged redesigned Apple earphones spotted in Vietnam

It seems Apple is in the process of upgrading their iconic white earphones. I use ‘iconic’ only to describe the design, because when it comes to sound quality they sound about as good as a doctor’s stethoscope.

3G Nexus 7 said to arrive in around six weeks

The Nexus 7 is pretty much the best Android tablet available in the market right because it does so much for so little. But in order to reach that low price point some compromises had to be made, which included having no 3G connectivity at launch.

But it seems that will soon be remedied, as apparently a 3G model of the Nexus 7 is on its way. According to Paul O’Brien at MoDaCo, a 3G version of the Nexus 7 will launching in six weeks from now. The rest of the specifications are said to be identical to the current Nexus 7 tablet. Read more »

Nokia announces Purity Pro wireless Bluetooth headset

Last year Nokia announced a couple of audio products as part of the new Nokia Purity range, designed in collaboration with Monster Cable, known for their famous Beats by Dr. Dre range of audio products. That range now has a new member, in the form of the Nokia Purity Pro Wireless Stereo headset.

The Purity Pro is a wireless stereo headset that uses Bluetooth for audio transmission, although you can also hook it up using a cable if your battery runs out. The Purity Pro has NFC built-in, so you can tap your Nokia phone with NFC to pair instantly or you can use the traditional pairing method. It also features active noise cancellation that cancels out the background noise. Read more »

Google Play Store gets smarter, provides app recommendations based on what you and your friends use

Google has added a new feature in the Play Store application on Android that should appear automatically when you launch the app. You will notice there is a new ‘Recommended For You’ section right on the featured page along with other categories.

Clicking this category opens the Recommended Apps section, where you will find a list of a whole bunch of apps selected based on the apps that you have downloaded in the past and the apps that your friends have been +1′ing. Read more »

Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 gets Android 4.0 update in the US

Samsung has started rolling out the Android 4.0.4 update for the Galaxy Tab 8.9 in the US. The update is 313.96MB in size and brings with it a newer version of Samsung’s TouchWiz UI, along with the usual Android 4.0 features.

To download the update, either connect the device to your computer and download through Kies or just head over to the Settings app and download the update OTA. Read more »
