Microsoft just decided to go Santa Claus on all its full-time employees. At the annual Microsoft employee event, CEO Steve Ballmer announced that each of the 90,000 or so full-time employees will be getting a host of freebies, including a Surface RT tablet, Windows Phone 8 device and a Windows PC.

This is not the first time Microsoft decided to lavishly appraise its employees. The last time they did this was when Windows Phone 7 was announced and each employee received a free device. Read more »

Looks like full-frame sensors are suddenly in vogue. Yesterday we saw a whole bunch of Sony cameras with full-frame sensors, including one camcorder. Now Nikon has announced the D600, which packs a full-frame sensor in what is the smallest, lightest and cheapest camera on the market right now.

The Nikon D600 uses a 24.3 megapixel 35.9 x 24mm full-frame CMOS sensor. The camera uses Nikon’s EXPEED 3 image processor and is capable of shooting at 5.5 fps. Read more »

Along with some digital still cameras, Sony also had a couple of new camcorders to announce today. The first of them is the new NEX-VG900, which according to Sony is the world’s first consumer 35mm full-frame interchangeable lens camcorder.

The VG900 uses the same 24.3 megapixel sensor that we saw on the A99. That sensor is big by DSLR standards and enormous when compared to other consumer camcorders by as much as as 40 times. The VG900 is also capable of taking full-frame 24 megapixel still photos in RAW format, just like the A99. Read more »

Sony has announced three new cameras, the most exciting of which is the DSC-RX1 that was leaked a couple of days ago. The other two are the NEX-6, the newest member of Sony’s mirrorless interchangeable lens cameras, and the Alpha SLT-A99.

Let’s talk about the RX1 first. As was revealed before, the RX1 packs in a 35mm full frame sensor within a compact camera size body. The sensor is a 36 x 24mm EXMOR CMOS with a resolution of 24.3 megapixels. To go with that sensor, the RX1 has a fixed Carl Zeiss 35mm/f2.0 lens with dedicated focus and aperture rings. Read more »

We reported last month that Apple will be officially dropping the YouTube application out of iOS with the release of iOS 6 due to the expiration of their license. At the same time Google also announced that they will be releasing their own application for iOS to make up for the loss, and they have.

When Google released the Google Drive application on iOS, it was a mere shadow of the application available on Android. The most you could do in that application is view all your files and documents uploaded on Drive but the lack of editing made the application fairly useless.

Well, that’s taken care of with the latest update, which brings with it several new features, the big one being able to edit all your documents. You can now tap on your documents and enter a view-only mode but with the tap of the Edit button you can start writing and also get basic formatting options. Read more »

Instagram broke its iOS exclusivity earlier this year when it arrived on Android. Many expected, or at least hoped, that the Windows Phone version would follow shortly but that did not happen.

After stuffing in a one-inch sensor inside the point and shoot RX100, it seems Sony is now going to put in a full-frame 35mm sensor inside an upcoming compact camera known as the RX1.

The RX1 looks like something that is barely larger than the RX100 but with a bigger lens to go with that ginormous sensor. The lens in question is a 35mm f/2.0 Carl Zeiss lens that looks like it’s removable but is fixed to the body. Read more »

HP has announced the new SpectreONE, an All-in-One desktop PC running Windows 8. The company claims it is the thinnest AiO PC in their portfolio, at just 11.5mm.

HP achieves this thickness by removing several key features, most notably a touchscreen display and an optical drive. The SpectreONE instead comes with a standard 23.6-inch 1080p display and a multi-touch trackpad, which looks pretty much identical to the Magic Trackpad that Apple provides with the iMac. Super Hexagon started life as a Flash game on a website. Created by Terry Cavanagh, known for making sadistic games such as VVVVVV, Super Hexagon has you pushing just two buttons but pulling out many, many hair.

If you watched the Amazon event yesterday, you’d know how much fun it was. Not just because the products announced were great but because the way Amazon pulled no punches while going after Google’s Nexus 7 and Apple’s iPad, while simultaneously taking the mickey out of other Android tablets.

We’re still far from seeing just how good Amazon’s new Kindle Fire HD, especially the 8.9-inch model which isn’t coming before November, but we can still compare it on paper with the other two tablets and see how it stacks up in comparison. Read more »

Adobe has released v1.3 of their Photoshop Touch app for iOS and Android and comes with a handful of improvements. First of all, v1.3 brings with it Retina display support for the new iPad, making it a lot more usable now.

The other important feature available on both iOS as well as the Android version is that Photoshop Touch now supports up to 12 megapixel images, which is great for quickly editing those high resolution images from you camera while you are outdoors and away from your computer. Read more »

Wild Blood is a third person action game based in the medieval times and follows the story of Sir Lancelot. The trailer shows off the expected impressive graphics along with some exciting combat elements.
