The pre-order period for the Acer Iconia Tab A510 is now over and the Tegra 3-packing tablet can be bought directly from Acer’s US online store right now. The price is still $450 and you can also get the slate from Amazon in Black or Silver (both bear the Olympic logo).

While the Tab A510 comes with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich out of the box, its older 7″ and 10.1″ siblings, the Tab A100 and Tab A500 respectively, need to be updated. Acer just announced the update schedule, check it out after the break. Read more »

The launch of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2′s has been delayed, reportedly to do a little extra work on the software. But a new rumor has cropped up saying that the real reason is a hardware one – namely Samsung wants to put a quad-core processor inside the Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 and the Galaxy Note 10.1 (no info about on the Tab 2 7.0).

It won’t be the first time Samsung has reworked a tablet just before its launch – it happened to the original Tab 10.1. The already manufactured Tab 10.1 models were sold as “10.1v”, so maybe we’ll see something similar with the Tab 2 10.1 and the Note 10.1, depending on how many of those are already made. Asus brought a trio of its Android tablets to the Milan Design Week 2012 and better still, the three of them had price tags attached and rough release time frames. The prices are for the Italian market, but they’ll probably be the same in the rest of Europe.

The three tablets are the Tegra 3-packing Asus Transformer Pad 300, the Transformer Pad 700, with its FullHD screen, and the mighty morphing Padfone. Read more »

Nokia’s Series 40 phones have a long history and have literaly sold billions – 1.5 billion as of earlier this year (to give you a frame of reference, the world’s population is currently at just over 7 billion people). Another member of the Transformer family is about to hit the shelves in the US – the Asus Transformer Pad TF300T will ship on April 22. The tablet is slightly thicker than the Prime model and uses a non-Super IPS LCD, but packs the same quad-core processor package courtesy of the Tegra 3 chipset.

The TF300T runs Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and is, of course, compatible with the Asus’ keyboard dock, which turns it into an Android-powered netbook and adds 5 extra hours of battery life (on top of the 10 h the tablet does itself). Read more »

We wanted to publish the HTC One S review as soon as possible so we had to do without the battery test (which takes a lot of time to complete). It’s done now and we’re ready to share it with you – especially since HTC doesn’t quote official numbers for the One S battery life.

We were very curious to see how the new chipset, part of the Snapdragon S4 family, performs compared to the old S3 models. It’s built on a 28nm process, which should offer much better power-efficiency than the 45nm process of the S3 chipsets. Read more »

HTC did a lot of bragging about the super tough ceramic finish on the black HTC One S. It is five times more durable than stainless steel, they said, but several user reports beg to disagree.

At least three separate users have noticed that the ceramic coating gets chipped in places and they claim they haven’t dropped the device. More and more reports keep rolling in too. Read more »

HTC bought a controlling share in Beats Electronics a while back and started bundling premium Beats headsets with some of their phones and incorporating audio know-how into the phones themselves. Now HTC might be rethinking the practice and there might not be any more Beats headsets to be found in HTC retail boxes.

An HTC product exec, Martin Fichter, talked to CNET and said that headphones aren’t a deciding factor when choosing a phone. Read more »

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 should have been out by now, but Samsung recently decided to push back the launch to the end of this month. Pricing for the 10.1″ Ice Cream Sandwich tablet was never announced, but Office Depot may have let the cat out of the bag.

It has since been pulled down, but Office Depot put a $399 price tag on the 8GB model, which is a pretty low price for a new 10″ tablet. Read more »

A leaked screenshot of an internal Best Buy memo caused a stir at first, promising Android Ice Cream Sandwich updates for the HTC Rezound and the Motorola DROID RAZR and DROID RAZR MAXX.

The update for the Rezound should hit today, if there aren’t any problems and misunderstandings. The ICS update for the Motorolas isn’t happening though, not now anyway. Read more »

Google is busy building up its movie catalog for YouTube and Google Play Movies, with Paramount joining in, making for a total of five out six major Hollywood studios (plus 10 independent ones). The catalog has swelled to almost 9,000 titles now.

The deal with Paramount will make 500 new titles available for rent through YouTube or if you’re on an Android device, through Google Play Movies. Read more »

The Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 came by our office today and unlike its smaller namesake, left no doubts about its tablet nature. But it’s not just any tablet – the S Pen stylus proved to be very versatile and surprised us with its extensive functionality.

On the outside, the Note 10.1 may look quite similar to the Samsung’s other 10.1″ tablet – the Tab 2 10.1 – but there’s just enough difference to make the Note 10.1 the more desirable tablet. Read more »

Sony Ericsson is a pretty big name in tennis – the Sony Ericsson Open just finished and it is a title sponsor of the Women’s Tennis Association. So, it came as a big surprise when it was announced that Maria Sharapova will promote Samsung products from now on (she was a Sony Ericsson ambassador for 4 years).

Currently, her deal covers only Russia and the Commonwealth of Independent States and is for three years. A new deal that covers the rest of the world might be signed next year. Read more »

There’s no arguing the Samsung I8530 Galaxy Beam is a pretty unique smartphone. In short, it’s a Galaxy R with a twist – a dual-core Android Gingerbread phone, with a 4.0 WVGA LCD screen and a 5MP camera. What turns heads though is the built-in projector – the Galaxy Beam is a pocketable movie theater or business presentation, depending on your needs.
