Samsung has released the latest video in its #GALAXY11 series where the fate of the world and mankind will be decided in a football match between the Hurakan aliens and Franz Beckenbauer’s Galaxy 11 team.
Viber has released a new version of its desktop app for Windows, OS X and Linux that puts a lot of effort and focus into stickers. The messaging company has also announced an important milestone – more than 100 million users are now using its service.
For those of you that aren’t familiar with Viber stickers these are basically emoticons on steroids that are downloaded in sets – some of which are free and others cost a few bucks. Now that the new Viber for desktop is released users can dock a sticker menu alongside their conversations and even search for stickers within the app. Read more »

A leaked ad, reportedly belonging to US retailer Target the iPad mini first generation will likely drop 33% to just $199 for a day – this coming Sunday, June 8.
The ad says that stock is limited so you might need to hurry up if you want to get a portable iOS slate for the good price. Other retailers like Walmart and BesBuy have the slate either out of stock or going for a higher price. Read more »
While the Sony Xperia Z2 solidified its position as in-house top dog with a more powerful Snapdragon 801 chip and 3 GB of RAM many an Xperia Z1 and Z1 Compact owner wished to get some of its features like 4K video recording and Timeshift 720p@120 fps slow motion recording.
Seeing as how both smartphones feature a Snapdragon 800 chip one would guess they could handle it hardware-wise. And now thanks to some savvy folks over at the XDA devs forum the two features have been successfully ported. Read more »
There’s a new update pushed to Android devices that adds some very useful features to the Hangouts messaging app.
The latest version of the app, 2.1.223, allows you to choose custom message and ringtone sounds for specific hangouts or people so that you can finally distinguish messages from one friend to another. Read more »
Pebble has issued a new firmware update (version 2.2) for its smartwatch that introduces some important new features like rearranging the apps in your Launcher Menu. You also get volume control in the Music app, which has also been redesigned with a better layout, alarm vibrations that go for more than 60 seconds and the usual bug fixes and stability improvements.
The update is seeding as we speak. You can check for it through your Pebble smartphone app but keep in mind that it may take time to get to your device – one of more than 400 thousand units. Read more »
It’s happened to all of us – searching on Google on our mobile devices, tapping an article result and getting redirected to the website’s mobile homepage instead of the article we wanted. Well Google’s noticed and will start flagging such faulty links in its English results in the US so that we know before we tap.
But aside from leaving a comment – “May open the site’s homepage” – Google will still give you a Try anyway button if you’re eager to tread into the unknown. We hope the new feature makes its way outside of the US soon. Read more »
Apple has a new ad out and it shows us that amid all these fitness-tracking-minded smartphones like the Samsung Galaxy S5 and accessories like the Gear 2 and Gear Fit the iPhone 5s remains a powerful tool for managing your daily workout.
The ad displays people doing various workouts and sports using a myriad of apps and accessories like the Zepp golf sensor and Adidas’ miCoach smart ball. Apple tells us that we’re more powerful than we think and helps get the point across by using an old sport-motivational song in Robert Preston’s “Chicken Fat”. Read more »
It its latest ad Nokia is focusing the attention on its Creative Studio and more importantly the Colorpop feature that allows you to only display one color channel on an otherwise black and white photo.
The ad is dubbed Children of the Revolution and, you guessed it – comes with the epic T-Rex song as background. The ad itself is a sequel to Nokia’s last ad – Not Like Everybody Else (that epic Kinks song) and has the first ad cameo at the end. Read more »
Apple’s Find My iPhone users in Australia have been hacked by someone or a group of people hiding behind the pseudonym Oleg Pliss (otherwise a respected software engineer and technology scientist). Some of the affected devices are put into lost mode with a message saying “device hacked”. Some users report demands of $100 sent by PayPal as ransom.
The information comes from numerous Apple users that have gone to Apple’s support forums complaining about the issue. Allegedly there were also reports from New Zealand users and one Australian currently in London. Read more »
Google’s I/O is coming in a month – June 25 through 26 – and is getting more interesting by the second.
When you open up Google’s page for the I/O event you’ll be greeted with a mysterious tablet stamped as a big picture across the top of the page. The slate isn’t anything we’ve seen yet and sports speakers on its top and bottom along with virtual on-screen buttons and what appears to be aluminum casing. Samsung’s upcoming line of slates is making the rumor rounds once again and this time we have a blurry image but one that has a running slate and its AMOLED-backed lockscreen showing.
The image comes from one Sammobile forum member that goes by the name of J.K. Shin. Now where have we heard that name before. Anyway the image reportedly shows the 10.5″ Galaxy Tab S that will sport a AMOLED screen of a 2560 x 1600 resolution. Read more »
The HTC One mini 2 boasts many hardware improvements over its predecessor – it packs a bigger 4.5″ screen, the same Snapdragon 400 chipset but with four Cortex-A7 cores, instead of two Krait ones. There’s also a bigger 2,110 mAh battery over the 1,800 mAh unit of the One mini.
The software is new as well compared to when we reviewed the HTC One mini a year ago – the HTC One mini 2 launches with the most recent Android 4.4.2 KitKat with Sense UI 6 right out of the box. Read more »

The phone managed a decent endurance rating of 53 hours and we’re going to break down why. The Ascend P7 has to power a 5″ IPS LCD of 1080p resolution along with a quad-core 1.8 GHz processor with a 2,500 mAh battery – a slightly below average capacity compared to direct rivals of similar specs.
