Google could launch its pure-bred Nexus tablet this summer, ponders analyst for DisplaySearch Richard Shim.
The device will reportedly offer a 7″ display of 1280 x 800 resolution and around 1.5 to the 2 million units will be produced initially.

Apple has acquired Chomp. A small 20 people company focused on app discovery on the iOS and Android. This step from Apple means that the company is hard at work on a future revamp of the App Store and specifically the search and app suggestion part of it.
Chomp launched back in 2009 and since then raised more than $2.5 million in funding. With its acquisition by Apple, the whole Chomp team is transferring over to Cuppertino with all the app finding technology and future plans for development.
Both NVidia and Samsung have been hyping their quad-core system-on-a-chip monsters but the smug on their face is about to get wiped. NVidia’s, at least.
That’s because Texas Instruments, not to be left out of the whole quad-core SoC mash-up, has released a video showcasing its OMAP 5 brute power. More specifically, it’s the OMAP 5430 with two A15 cores helped by two companion M4 cores alongisde a SGX544 MP2 graphics chip. It takes on the ASUS Transformer Prime with its 1.3GHz quad-core Cortex A9 (Tegra 3, or 4-PLUS-1) beating in its shell.
Along with the three Android phones, ViewSonic also announced three new tablets, two droids and one Windows 7 slate. The Android tablets come in two sizes – 7″ and 9.7″, while the Atom-powered Windows 7 slate is a 10-incher.
The ViewSonic ViewPad E100 has a 9.7″ IPS screen with 1024×768 resolution and runs Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.

The BlackBerry Playbook OS 2.0 was hotly anticipated, so the news about it seeding the other day spread like wildfire. I spent a few hours of quality time with my Playbook on 2.0, so I’m ready to give you all the details on what’s hot and what is, well, not so much.
And before we continue, I want to answer the most frequent question I got since the release came out: No, you can’t simply drop an Android app on it, install it and use it just like that. It’s an important chunk of information that was known ever since the beta 2.0 leaked, but one that many people have missed for one reason or another.
The BlackBerry Playbook OS 2.0 does not allow you to install Android apps directly, but it allows developers to port them really easily into the .BAR format, which would then be able to run on the Playbook. RIM would also prefer it that you do not download apps from sources other than the AppWorld.
Ok, now that I got that out of the way, let’s see what novelties the Playbook OS 2.0 brings along.
Google updated the Docs for Android application and brought interface and formatting improvements, but most importantly the latest version features the cool real-time collaborative editing of the desktop version.
If you haven’t seen collaborative editing in Google Docs, you really should – it’s quite impressive. You’re able to see changes made by other people almost as soon as they make them.
Opera Mini is still a wildly popular mobile browser no doubt, but there’s always room for growth. The newest territory that the browser has conquered is a group of Samsung feature phones.
The Samsung Star 3, the Star 3 Duos, the Samsung Champ 2 and the Champ Duos come with Opera Mini out of the box and there will be more to come in 2012.
Asus joined the teaser game ahead of the MWC and released a short video of Matroshka dolls through its official YouTube channel. Titled “Divided We Stand. Together We Rock”, the video says does the math and concludes that “1+1+1″ gives you endless possibilities.
You know, just like a phone, which can power a tablet and take a keyboard dock would. The Asus Padfone was already confirmed by the company, but there were very few details given.
Unlike most other quad-core architectures out there, Nvidia’s Tegra 3 also features a fifth companion core. The job of this core is to handle all the usual menial tasks while the four performance cores rest, to be called upon only when there is a need for significant graphical muscle power, such as in 3D games. This results in amazing battery life because the companion core consumes very little power compared to the four performance cores.
This kind of architecture is called as variable symmetric architecture (or vSMP). But as you can image that’s not something that would look at home on a box or a store sign, which is why Nvidia kept calling it things like having a companion core or ninja core. But now they have finally come up with a proper name for it and they have trademarked it too. And that name is 4-PLUS-1.

Sony has completely revamped the site and it looks nothing like the old one. Along with a new design and navigation you would also notice that the number of products on display has vastly been reduced.
