Apple iPad Air 2 will reportedly have two gigs of RAM

According to a report from Asia, the yet to be revealed Apple iPad Air 2 will have 2GB of RAM on board when it goes official. The move will represent the first increase in random access memory for Cupertino’s full size tablet since the iPad 3 came out.

Intel and Unity announce collaboration to bring Android support to x86 devices

Intel and Unity Technologies announced strategic collaboration to extend Andorid support for the chipmaker’s devices. Unity will add Android support for Intel’s current and future x86 chips, including the Core and Atom families.

Facebook Messenger reaches 500 million downloads on Android

Facebook carved out the chat functionality from its main app and transferred it exclusively to its Messenger app. Messenger is getting pummeled with 1-star reviews but that hasn’t stopped it from growing and it is now on over 500 million Android devices.

Only two other non-Google apps (so not Android defaults) have managed this – the main Facebook app and the Facebook-owned WhatsApp. Read more »

Mailbox for Mac released, available as public beta

Mailbox has officially released a beta version of their popular app on the Mac. If you had signed up for the beta released back when it was first shown, then you should get a mail with a download link. Once downloaded, you can then also invite three other people to try out the app by sending them betacoins.

Mailbox works similar to its counterparts on iOS and Android. Other than the clean, minimalist interface, you also have full gesture support for deleting, archiving and scheduling mail. Mailbox is also adding support for drafts in the Mac and iOS version, and it’s coming soon on Android. Read more »

Today Samsung has unveiled the newest member of its Level family of audio products – the Level Box Mini. This is a wireless speaker that’s supposed to deliver “premium-quality sound within a light, compact metallic body”.
