Adobe upgrades Photoshop Elements to version 11, offers new bundles with Premiere Elements

Adobe today released an update to its Elements and Premiere Elements applications, bringing their version number to 11.

The software is lighter than Photoshop but still pretty powerful. In addition Adobe will offer a discounted bundle of the two services – $150 for new customers and $120 for updating ones. Read more »

The Samsung Ativ Tab is the company’s first Windows 8 RT tablet and judging by the feedback our preview got, you guys really liked it. However, as with every other device, its success would depend on its pricing, and that was until now a mystery.

Well, not any more as a Slovenian online retailer has put up a page dedicated to the Samsung Ativ Tab, complete with pricing info. The 32GB version of the Samsung Ativ Tab is listed with a price tag of €650. Ouch. Read more »

Microsoft confirms Office 2013 and 365 pricing

Microsoft has confirmed the costs of its Office 2013 suite as well as the Office 365 Home Premium and Small Business Premium services.

The subscription-based Office 365 Home Premium will give 5 people access to the full Office 365 features ( Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Outlook, Access, and Publisher) via their individual accounts. For the privilege they will have to fork out $99.99 a year. Read more »

Microsoft gives away Surface RT tablets, Windows Phone 8 devices and Windows PCs to employees

Microsoft just decided to go Santa Claus on all its full-time employees. At the annual Microsoft employee event, CEO Steve Ballmer announced that each of the 90,000 or so full-time employees will be getting a host of freebies, including a Surface RT tablet, Windows Phone 8 device and a Windows PC.

This is not the first time Microsoft decided to lavishly appraise its employees. The last time they did this was when Windows Phone 7 was announced and each employee received a free device. Read more »

HP announces new SpectreONE AiO desktop PC

HP has announced the new SpectreONE, an All-in-One desktop PC running Windows 8. The company claims it is the thinnest AiO PC in their portfolio, at just 11.5mm.

HP achieves this thickness by removing several key features, most notably a touchscreen display and an optical drive. The SpectreONE instead comes with a standard 23.6-inch 1080p display and a multi-touch trackpad, which looks pretty much identical to the Magic Trackpad that Apple provides with the iMac. HP announces Envy X2 Windows 8 tablet with keyboard dock, we take it for a spin

HP’s most interesting announcement at IFA this year is the Envy X2 – a Windows 8-based tablet with a keyboard dock.

The Envy X2 slate features an 11.6-inch IPS touchscreen with 400-nit brightness and 1366x768px resolution. It’s powered by Intel’s Clover Trail processor and comes with 8MP camera and 64GB internal memory. There is support for Beats Audio as well. Read more »

Samsung has been keen to point out its commitment to the Windows 8 platform recently and the freshly-announced Ativ Tab is the proof that it wasn’t just PR talk. What’s more, based on our first impressions of the slate, the company might become a major player in the Windows tablet game.

The Ativ Tab is built around a 10.1″ IPS LCD display with a resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels and 400-nits of brightness. It’s powered by a Snapdragon S4 APQ8060a chipset, featuring a 1.5GHz dual-core Krait CPU and 2GB of RAM. Read more »

Toshiba unveils Windows 8 Satellite U920T ultrabook, we take it for a spin

Toshiba announced a new ultrabook on IFA – the Windows 8 Pro running Satellite U920T. It is a convertible with sliding keyboard, which can easily transform from a tablet to a laptop.

Alongside the Windows Phone 8-running ATIV S smartphone, Samsung also announced three Windows 8-powered slates – the 10.1″ ATIV Tab and the 11.6″ ATIV Smart PC and ATIV Smart PC Pro.
