Angry Birds Star Wars update now available, brings 20 planet Hoth levels

Angry Birds Star Wars has just got its first update – the planet Hoth. It adds 20 new Hoth-themed levels, new pink (Leia) bird, bonus levels and AT-ATs.

Microsoft sells 40 million Windows 8 licenses a month after the launch of the OS

At the end of October, Microsoft officially launched the Windows 8 operating system and now, a month later, the company reports it has already sold 40 million licenses.

An impressive achievement for the guys at Redmond, indeed. In comparison, there were 60 million Windows 7 licenses sold in the first 10 weeks after its launch at the end of 2009. Read more »

Upcoming ThinkPad X1 Carbon Touch spotted on Lenovo’s website

The ThinkPad X1 Carbon Touch, an ultrabook with a touchscreen display optimized for Windows 8, was spotted on Lenovo’s website ahead of official launch. The page since then has been pulled but not before a few details about the machine were obtained.

The X1 Carbon Touch will have a 14-inch HD+ multi-touch display that can support up to 10 fingers. The display is said to be 1600 x 900 in resolution as that is often what fits Lenovo’s definition of ‘HD+’. Read more »

Angry Birds Star Wars is, as Rovio likes to call it, Angry Birds’ biggest adventure yet. The game is based on the story of the Star Wars franchise and has birds dressed as the characters from the Rebel Alliance whereas the pigs are dressed as the Galactic Empire. After that it’s your usual bird flinging action but with some new abilities. But will that be enough to bring back gamers who have clearly flung enough birds to last a lifetime? Let’s find out. Microsoft Surface users facing audio and Touch Cover issues

It’s just been a couple of weeks since the Microsoft Surface went on sale and as usual for any new product we have started hearing complaints from the early adopters. The two most prominent issues for now relate to the sound and the optional Touch Cover.

Microsoft said to be working on a 7-inch Xbox Surface tablet

After announcing the 10-inch Surface tablets based on Windows 8 and Windows RT, Microsoft is now reportedly working on a 7-inch model. Except, this one is more purpose-built, with the purpose being gaming.

According to The Verge, Microsoft is said to be working on a 7-inch Xbox Surface tablet designed for gaming. The device is said to include an ARM processor with high-bandwidth RAM but the specifications could be altered for an unannounced Intel SoC. This device will neither be running on Windows 8 nor Windows RT, but rather a custom Windows kernel, similar to the current Xbox console. Read more »

Microsoft Surface torn down, found relatively hard to repair

The Surface is Microsoft’s first tablet and the software giant is quite proud of the design, but as iFixit found out, the sleek external shell is hard to get open if you need to do some repairs. A total of 17 screws hold the back in place and 7 of those are under a hard to remove plastic bezel.

Anyway, the inside of the Surface holds several interesting chips, including an NVIDIA Tegra 3. There’s also 2GB of DDR3 RAM from Micron, 32GB flash storage from Samsung and a Wolfson audio chip. Read more »

Today Microsoft stepped on stage and released its Windows 8 and Windows RT to the tech world in what was largely conceived as the biggest Windows release ever. Availability starts today and active Windows 7 customers can upgrade starting from $39.99.

Skype 6.0 for Mac or Windows released, brings MS or Facebook login and UI tweaks
