Nokia has announced that a beta trial of its DLNA streaming app Play To will be available for Windows Phone 8-powered Nokia devices.
Like similar streaming apps, Play To lets you wirelessly share photos, music, and videos to DLNA-enabled devices, including TV’s and receivers. Read more »
The Nokia Lumia 520 was only announced this morning and T-Mobile USA is already claiming a piece of the action. The carrier will get a dedicated version of the phone – 521 – which differs only in the supported 3G frequencies.
The Lumia 520, or 521 in this case, is an upgrade over the current 510 – it runs Windows Phone 8 on a 1GHz dual-core Krait processor, with double the RAM (512MB), double the internal storage (8GB, there’s a microSD card slot too) and 720p video capture. Facebook announced partnerships with multiple mobile operators to provide free or discounted data access for its website usage. As we already know, much of the Facebook’s usage is from the mobile devices and the Mark Zuckerberg’s company is trying to make it easier on the wallets to access it.

Maps and Drive have long been one of the staples of Nokia Windows Phone devices, and today they’re being rolled as part of Nokia’s HERE cloud location service.
Also integrated are the Transit and City Lens apps, which allow for quick access to public transit information and nearby POIs in addition to the cartography and navigation features provided by Drive and Maps. However, the services will no longer bear the Nokia branding. Read more »

We approached the Nokia Lumia 620 battery test with mixed feelings. Windows Phones had hardly topped our charts so far and the meager 1300mAh battery of the Lumia 620 didn’t bode well. Still, we had certain hopes for it as its screen is not that big and the dual-core CPU is clocked only at 1Ghz.

Microsoft’s upcoming OS update scheme named Windows Blue, which will allow the company to have a low-cost Windows platform on a yearly update schedule is supposed to get underway later this year. Now, Microsoft has more or less confirmed the arrival of the upgrades through a job posting on its careers site.

Microsoft Surface Pro tablets went on sale in the United States and Canada as per its schedule. Surprisingly, the 128 GB model of the much criticized tablet ran out of stock with in few hours of its availability in the Microsoft’s online store.

HTC might soon introduce a new new color option for its Windows Phone 8x smartphone. The white color variant of the device was spotted in one of the tweets from HTC’s official tweeter account (@HTC).
The device in the image is quite similar to the leaked press images of the yet to release HTC One, but the smooth corners confirms that the device is Windows phone 8X. Read more »

For some reason, Samsung decided not to bring its Ativ S Windows Phone 8 flagship to the United States. Instead, the Korean giant released the Verizon Exclusive, LTE toting, and seriously pocketable Samsung Ativ Odyssey.
The Samsung Ativ Odyssey looks and feels a lot like a mini version of the Ativ S. The handset is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 chipset with a 1.5GHz dual-core CPU. Read more »
