Samsung has cut the retail price of the Galaxy Gear smartwatch. The gadget was launched back in September and even though it’s the best spec’d wearable on the market, Galaxy Gear remained rather unpopular because of its hefty price tag.

Samsung has released Galaxy Gear worldwide and it was priced at $300 for the USA, €300 in Europe and Rs. 22,290 ($356) in India. Those prices were rather steep indeed, but that’s about to change now. Read more »

Samsung has chosen Carphone Warehouse as a “preferred partner” for Europe. The retailer will collaborate with Samsung to open and manage over 60 dedicated stores of the Korean company.

The Samsung Galaxy Gear 2 smartwatch has been rumored to come out in tandem with the Galaxy S5. Now a new publication in a Korean media, which claims to be in touch with Samsung insiders, the new generation smartwatch will be announced in March or April.

Being a mere smartwatch doesn’t save the Samsung Galaxy Gear from the developers’ desire at getting deep into the gadget’s core. And now, courtesy of XDA Developers, comes the first custom kernel for the Gear.

The Samsung Galaxy Gear has already got its first custom ROM, showing that developers aren’t afraid to get creative, but the new kernel finally shows that they are also now ready to go one level deeper. The Pebble is one of the most popular wearable devices, which came to life through a Kickstarter campaign. The company has announced that it has “something special” to offer at this year’s Consumer Electronics Show.
