Apple on the rise in China

The latest figures from the Wall Street Journal show that Apple is starting to become more widespread in China. The world’s largest mobile market, China has long been the bastion of low-cost Android alternatives from Asian manufacturers like Huawei and Lenovo.

However Apple’s market share in China went up from 6% in Q3 of last year to 7% in Q4. This currently puts the Cupertino company 5th amongst smartphone vendors. Read more »

LG releases MWC 2014 teaser video

LG has already scheduled a press event for February 24 – Day 1 of the upcoming Mobile World Congress 2014 in Barcelona. According to the most recent teasers LG will be unveiling the LG G2 mini on the event.

The Mint Green Galaxy Note 3 Neo wasn’t the only new color flavor we found at the Samsung Forum 2014 in Bali. The original Galaxy Note 3 phablet had no less than three new paintjobs showcased – the Rose Gold White, Rose Gold Black and Merlot Red.

Samsung unwraps new LED flash modules, Galaxy S5 to use one of them

Samsung has officially announced its new camera flash LED unit, which it intends to use in future smartphones and tablets. The company has confirmed that one of them find its way in the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S5 flagship later this month.

The new LEDs in question include two reflector-integrated flash LED packages, plus a flip-chip flash LED, as well as two side-view LEDs. Read more »

Cool renders show what the HTC M8 might look like

We’ve seen the HTC M8 (the HTC One’s successor) star in plenty of leaks but they all have something in common – low quality photos. XDA-Developers user hamdir collected all leaked photos and created beautiful renders of the M8.

Some of the things are dubious – like the second camera. The images that showed it were called out as fakes by an HTC regional director, but there are plenty of leaked images that feature a second opening above the camera (including back covers). Read more »
