Xiaomi held a flash sale of 60,000 Redmi 1S smartphones today in India and the whole thing was done in 13.9 seconds. This is the fifth time the company is holding such a sale, but today’s was the largest of them all.
The company promises that something special is going to hit next week, but it’s not going to be another flash sale. Don’t get us wrong – there will be a sale but that will happen a week later, on October 14. Read more »

So far two TV commercials have been posted to the company’s YouTube channel, but more of these videos are said to be on the way. The tagline for the whole campaign is “Don’t settle for good. Demand great”. Read more »
The Sony Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z3 Compact can now be rooted thanks to the dedicated work of XDA-Developer Doomlord. On top of that, they can enjoy a lot of ROM flashing thanks to also having support for custom recovery.
In order to do any of the two, you have to have an unlocked bootloader and be on a stock firmware or ROM based on it. After a quick flash of a custom kernel, you’re ready to flash ClockWorkMod custom recovery. Read more »

In this week’s poll, we get a little break from the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus and concentrate on the Sony Xperia Z3, which we reviewed earlier this week. We are pitting it against its main Android rivals: the HTC One (M8), Samsung Galaxy S5 and LG G3.
The Sony Xperia Z3 stands tall with its superb waterproof skills under its IP68 certification allowing it to dive below 1 meters of depth for over 30 minutes. It’s also lighter and a bit more compact than its predecessor and comes with a new design, so the outcome of this poll is going to be interesting. Read more »
Hot on the heels of its recent Galaxy Note 4 commercial, Samsung Mobile USA released another video clip centered on the company’s flagship phablet. The lengthy clip is a departure from the usual promo video format.
The video clip features two friends who try to insert “note” into as many common words as possible (cappuccinote is one coffee-flavored example). Read more »
The Apple iPhone 6 Plus comes as a notable departure from the company’s traditions of compact devices, bringing a 5.5-inch 1080p display for the first time on an Apple smartphone.
But how does it rank in terms of an Apple device? We’ll be taking a quick look at not only the retail package and hardware design strategy, but what the latest iOS 8 update brings to the table. Read more »
After Samsung, LG, HTC, and even KitKat, Asus has joined the #bendgate fun party by mocking the iPhone 6 Plus too. The Taiwanese company is also promoting two of its products while it’s at it. First up, the Zenfone 6, as you can see.
Sony prides itself with the Xperia Z3‘s IP68 certification, which allows the smartphone to dive over 1 meter for over 30 minutes without breaking much sweat. As a result, Carphone Warehouse decided it was time to do one of the coolest unboxing videos we’ve seen – on the bottom of a swimming pool.
Sure, the box doesn’t fare too well, nor does the documentation inside. We’re also not to sure about using the charger after it has been submerged in water. Read more »
We have all had our fun with the BendGate jokes. But sometimes it’s important to set the jokes aside and ask why is it that it’s happening and how come some of the other devices don’t share the same problem.
Most people have blamed the aluminum shell on the iPhone 6 for being the culprit here, because aluminum is a soft metal. However, one redditor has explained that it doesn’t really have anything to do with the shell but how the internal geometry of the phone is. Read more »
It’s always fun to see other companies trip over themselves trying to come up with a joke on Apple every time the latter is going through some sort of controversy. This time it’s BendGate (yeah they just add -gate to everything now), where some iPhone 6 Plus units were found to be getting bent if enough force was applied to them (we’ll keep aside the fact that few were actual incidences and most were done on purpose on YouTube to get pageviews for now).
But while it’s cool to make fun of your competitors, the least you could do is, well. not use the product you are making fun of. Someone at LG France clearly forgot about this and in trying to join the #BendGate bandwagon ended up tweeting the joke from an iPhone, as revealed by Twitter. Read more »

However, this doesn’t take away from the awesomeness of the drive. It reaches sequential read speed of 3,000MB/s and writes sequentially at up to 2,200MB/s. Read more »
Everyone knows that once a potential flaw is discovered in the new iPhone then all phones in existence must be tested for the same flaw. It happened with Antennagate and now it’s happening with Bendgate.
The Apple iPhone 6 Plus proved easy to deform under pressure so the smaller iPhone 6 was put under the same test along with the iPhone 5s, the HTC One (M8), another aluminum phone, the Motorola Moto X (2014) and the Nokia Lumia 1020. Read more »
Just like we suspected you yesterday, Samsung is joining LG at the Apple mock festival. Naturally, Samsung’s latest jab at the Cupertino company is regarding the iPhone 6 Plus bending problems.
“Curved. Not bent” reads Samsung Mobile’s latest tweet, while showing a picture of the Galaxy Note Edge. The phone touts a 5.6″ Super AMOLED display that’s curved on the side to enable some cool user interface tricks. Read more »
The Apple iPhone 6 is finally here at HQ and we’re eager to share some hands on impressions with the smaller of Apple’s flagship devices.
Before we dive into the action let’s get a sense for what the Apple iPhone 6 is. For starters it’s one of Apple’s first two big-screened phone – even if it comes at a time when 4.7″ is considered a mini’s display for Apple iPhone 5s users the iPhone 6 ushers in a big change. Read more »
