Xiaomi Mi 4 battery life test

The Xiaomi Mi 4 is generating a lot of buzz with its affordable price and high-end specs. The company has fitted it with a Snapdragon 801 chipset with a quad-core CPU and 3GB of RAM. The Chinese have even managed to fit a larger battery than the one found in the Mi 3.

However, the difference in capacity is minor. The Xiaomi Mi 4 features a 3080mAh Li-Ion unit, whereas its predecessor has a 3050mAh one. As you’ll see though, the difference is noticeable. Read more »

Lenovo Vibe Z2 Pro hands-on

Lenovo announced its Vibe Z2 Pro high-end smartphone at the end of July and the device is set to make an appearance at IFA 2014 in Berlin next week. Spotify gets free music streaming for Windows Phone

Samsung Galaxy Alpha (Exynos 5430) battery test

The Samsung Galaxy Alpha comes in two versions – one with Samsung’s brand new Exynos 5430 Octa chipset and one with the more common Snapdragon 801 chipset. Both have small 1,860mAh batteries. Small relative to the phone’s size, of course, 4.7″ phones typically have 2,000+ mAh batteries. The Galaxy Alpha is pretty slender though, just 6.7mm, which eats into the available volume for the battery.

Awkward: Even Verizon can get all those HTC One phones confused

That new HTC One (M8) for Windows has a name with great potential to confuse consumers – it’s not the HTC One (M8), it’s not the One (E8) and it doesn’t run Windows (but Windows Phone instead). It turns out that the similar looks of the One family are an issue too, even for the carriers.

Verizon put out a video to tout the HTC One (M8), both the Android and WP versions, except if you look closely at the screenshot above you’ll notice those are actually two different devices. Read more »
