As all Android fans should be familiar by now, every Android release is marked with a beautiful mascot in the Google headquarters’ backyard. The Ice Cream Sandwich is also nearing its release (October 19, anyone?), so it makes sense we see its statue already standing among its siblings.

Nokia has been at the top of the camera phone game for a while now. It started with the N95, then the N82, N86 8MP and now the N8. They had competition from Sony Ericsson initially but a few mediocre phones later Sony Ericsson was out of the game (although they seem to be coming back with the Xperia arc). Samsung gave a tough fight but Nokia still maintained its lead, mostly thanks to the N8, which remains unbeatable in still image capture. But now there is a new player in the camera phone game and it seems Nokia does not like that.
When Apple was announcing the iPhone 4S, Nokia’s camera expert Damian Dinnings was busy making comparisons between the iPhone 4S and the Nokia N9 camera on his Twitter account. He seems to think that based on the specs the N9 is simply better and that everything that Apple does is simply an extension of their Reality Distortion Field. Read more »
A couple of days ago, we told you about Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon chipsets, designed with strong emphasis on power-efficiency. In order to fortify its commitment to the cause, Qualcomm has released a rather fascinating video for all of us, with bugs (real, not software ones, mind you) as its unusual cast.
The close relationship between Google’s Android OS and desserts has been in existence since the former’s genesis a few years back.Terms such as Froyo, Honeycomb, Ice Cream Sandwich, etc. have become part of tech related conversations almost to a point, where they are used more often than in relation to food.
The folks at Sharp have decided to bring desserts and technology even closer together by creating an Android device which looks like a chocolate bar. In the most literal sense of the word that is.
The title seems to say it all. If you didn’t try any of the beta releases of iOS 5 so far, then we guess you’re in for some serious upgrade tonight. The update brings lots of new features including the Notification center, the location-aware Reminders, iCloud and iMessage to the iOS compatible devices such as the iPhone 3G and the iPhone 4, the iPod Touches (3rd and 4th gen) and of course, the two iPads.

If you are waiting for the reviews of the new iPhone 4S to come up so you can make up your mind whether or not to go for it, you are in for a treat. What we have for you is a roundup of all iPhone 4S reviews that surfaced over the past days, courtesy of those lucky enough to have received their units ahead of schedule.
The review compilation, created by 9to5mac, suggests that the iPhone 4S is quite a worthy upgrade over any iPhone, prior to the iPhone 4. Whether or not it’s worth it to add an S to the already excellent iPhone 4 is a much tougher call, but it still seems like a decision you are unlikely to regret. Read more »
A press image of the yet unannounced LG Doubleplay for T-Mobile US (which we first saw under the assumed name ‘Flip II’) just appeared online and gave us a clearer view of what the upcoming droid will look like. The peculiar QWERTY slider will pack a couple of screens – a HVGA main one and a secondary display of unknown resolution on the QWERTY.
Other specs of the T-Mobile Doubleplay that we know include a 5 MP camera, GPS, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. That logo on the screen also shows that there’s 4G connectivity, which in T-Mobile’s case couldn’t be anything but HSPA+. Read more »
It would appear that something special will be coming out of Verizon and Motorola’s goodie bag later this month as they hint at a ‘big innovation’ to be unveiled at 12pm on October 18th.

It appears that some iPhone 4S units were delivered a few days early and some lucky fellas got to play with the Apple latest smartphone earlier than expected. But hey, that’s good news for everyone as more information about the iPhone 4S is starting to flow.
As we continue the hard work on the Nokia N9 review we are able to bring you yet another interesting tidbit about the smartphone in advance. We just completed the video playback endurance test of the MeeGo flagship and we were pretty impressed by its performance.
The Nokia N9 managed good 8 hours and 40 minutes of video playback before its battery went from full to 10%. That’s a pretty great achievement, which compares favorably to every other smartphone we’ve put to the same test, but the iPhone 4. Check out the complete rankings Read more »
When you have the most iconic and recognizable mobile theme in the world, you’d have to be pretty confident to let the general public loose on it, with a mind to then putting the result on 100 million handsets worldwide, but that’s exactly what Nokia have gone and done.
The Nokia Tune competition opened at the start of September and asked musicians, music lovers and Nokia fans everywhere to reinvent the iconic Nokia theme in their own style.
Update: Nokia just came up and made it clear that this new controversial DubStep remix is not replacing the original Nokia tune.
Qualcomm has released the specifications of its upcoming Snapdragon S4 chipset, which will be the first in the mobile world to be using 28nm process technology. That would give it a substantial advantage in power-efficiency and processing power over its competitors.
The Snapdragon S4 chipset will be packing either two or four brand new Krait cores, which have been custom designed by Qualcomm and should bring a 60% improvement over the currently used Scorpion processors at the same clock speed. However, Qualcomm has obviously found 60% to be an insufficient upgrade and it will be clocking those cores from 1.5GHz to the mind-blowing 2.5GHz. Read more »
As you probably know, we’ve had the Nokia N9 in our office for a few days and we are hard at work to unveil every secret it has. And one of the first findings we had was that the FWVGA AMOLED of the MeeGo flagship is using a PenTile matrix, instead of a regular RGB one.
It’s the same kind of matrix that we saw with Samsung’s first-gen Super AMOLEDs, where each pixel is composed of two subpixels rather than three. This gives less room for sub-pixel rendering and reduces the effective resolution, when displaying super fine detail. Read more »
