We thought Samsung left the GPS issues behind after they replaced the original Galaxy S as their flagship device, but it turns out that the Galaxy S II has some issues with its GPS connectivity, too. It appears that the units distributed by Vodafone have a faulty GPS configuration file, which prevents them from acquiring satellite lock quickly.

There are several lengthy threads in the Vodafone support forums dedicated to the issue, but the carrier is still unable to come up with a solution. Even the Android 2.3.5 update, which was released just a few weeks ago didn’t address the faulty file. Read more »

Well, it seems the first person in the US to get a Galaxy Nexus is none other than Apple co-founder, Steve “Woz” Wozniak. As strange as that may sound, that’s exactly what’s happened at Google’s campus in Mountain View, California.

What happened is this; Woz tweeted that he was looking to get a Galaxy Nexus but as you may know it isn’t currently available in the US. After that he probably got an invite from Google to come over to their campus, where he was given a shiny new Galaxy Nexus and an Ice Cream Sandwich T-shirt. Read more »

The Android smartphone comes with a 1650 mAh battery and a pretty large 4.3″ screen. Judging by those specs alone, we probably shouldn’t expect the Galaxy S II to top our charts, but the power-efficient Super AMOLED Plus might help it put in a decent performance. If you just bought a Nokia Lumia 800, you might want to check this one out. The Finnish company released a series of photos depicting the different stages of the making of the smartphone.

The photo story isn’t focusing so much on the process of adding the different bits and pieces together to create a smartphone, but more on what happens next. The first ever buyer of the first every official Ice Cream Sandwich phone was a certain Alex Ioannou in the UK. He seemed rather happy with his purchase in the picture that was tweeted from Samsung UK’s Twitter account.

Unlike the last time when the Nexus S was announced, Google released just one video so far for the Galaxy Nexus. But now that the phone has launched in the UK, we’re suddenly seeing a whole bunch of videos dropping in on YouTube on the Google Nexus account.

These videos cover a large portion of the phones features, from the new Android Beam, to the Panorama mode, Face Unlock, etc. There is also a new ad, which for once, shows actual people doing normal things with their phone instead of robots doing some weird things. Mobile gaming has been a fast growing market, especially since Apple’s App Store propelled game companies and developers to dizzying heights once they’d gotten the ball rolling (Rovio’s 51st title became pretty popular, you might know it).

So far however, the Sony Ericsson Xperia PLAY has really been the only device with the mobile gamer truly in mind especially on Android. Yet another smartphone dared to try its capabilities in our new battery test. The Sony Ericsson Xperia Pro is here and, knowing how many fans the manufacturer has, we are sure many will be interested to know how it did.

The Sony Ericsson battery has 1500 mAh of capacity, which is not quite as impressive as what the Galaxy Note (the only other droid we’ve tested so far) had to offer. It is important to note however, that the device has a screen more than two times smaller than that of the Samsung phablet, so we were pretty interested to see the results. Read more »

Don’t buy the HTC Rezound. Seriously, don’t. Not unless you care about the well-being of the people around you. Because if this new video from HTC is to be believed, the Beats audio in the new Rezound can turn it into a weapon of mass destruction.

In a CGI sequence lifted straight from the movie ‘Inception’, listening to music on your HTC Rezound with the Beats audio apparently causes everything around you to explode like there’s no tomorrow. And looking at all the destruction there probably won’t be a tomorrow if you continue to listen to the music. Read more »

You know that we are really into nicely shot video ads and super cool smartphones. And we struck gold on both counts with that clip we just stumbled upon.

It’s a Nokia N9 TV advert for the Chinese market, featuring Fan Bingbing, which is reportedly one of the most popular actresses in China. The 2:22 minutes of dramatic black and white footage certainly make for one of the most impressive video commercials we have seen. Read more »

Apple made such a big deal of the iPhone 4S voice assistant, Siri that it was bound to attract the hacker’s attention. And, sure enough, the protocol of the service was cracked open we have most of the Siri mysteries revealed.

A group of hackers set up a proxy server and made the iPhone 4S send its Siri traffic through it to the Apple servers. That way they could monitor what gets sent and received and could see what was going on under the hood. Read more »

The HTC Rezound is packing a reasonable 1620 mAh battery, but with LTE connectivity and a 4.3″ HD screen reasonable is not always enough. That’s why HTC released an extended 2750 mAh unit for their flagship droid, which should allow it to last for days on a single charge.

Of course, there is a price that needs to be paid and in this case we are not even talking about the outrageous $60 cost of the battery itself. The real sacrifice here is the added millimeters around the Rezound waistline. Read more »

It’s episode three of our new battery test and we have the Samsung Galaxy Note starring this time. The phoneblet has a 2500 mAh battery, which is much larger than that of the average smartphone, but it also has a very power-hungry 5.3″ screen.

As a direct result, the Samsung Galaxy Note’s performance in our test was quite unusual. While it got a monstrous score on the telephony part, its web browsing endurance were quite disappointing. But let’s not get ahead of ourselves. Read more »
