Apple expands iTunes in the Cloud for movies availability to 38 countries

You may be aware of the iTunes in the Cloud service by Apple. Using this service, you can download music, movies, TV shows, apps or books on one device and have them automatically download on all your other devices if you so wish.

So far the the ability to automatically download movies on other devices was only restricted to the US but Apple has now expanded the list of eligible countries to 38. Read more »

Fieldrunners 2 now available on iPhone, iPad version coming soon

One of the best tower defense games I’ve played, Fieldrunners, is getting a sequel. The first game was very popular on iOS and Android and it was also released on PSP, Nintendo DS, Chrome and more.

Fieldrunners 2 has just arrived at the Apple’s App Store and is available for purchase on all compatible iPhones (3GS or later) and iPod Touch (3rd gen or later). Read more »

UK Judge orders Apple to run ads saying Samsung ‘did not copy iPad’

The Apple vs. Samsung war going on in courts all over the world saw a rather interesting turn of events yesterday.

UK judge Birss ordered Apple to put out advertisements in various newspapers and magazines stating that Samsung “did not copy iPad”. Additionally, Apple has to post a notice on its website for at least six months stating the above. Read more »

‘Amazing Alex’ for iOS and Android game review

After the wildly popular Angry Birds series of games, developer Rovio is back with a brand new game for iOS and Android called Amazing Alex. The new title involves creating Rube Goldberg apparatuses and solving puzzles.

The game is based upon the popular The Incredible Machine series of games for Windows desktops. This is what you have to do: every level has several fixed objects arranged on screen in a particular order. You also have extra objects available at your disposal that you can place at various points on the screen. The goal of the game is to use all of these objects to set off a chain reaction and move certain objects to a designated position. Read more »

Amazing Alex now available in the iOS App Store, Google Play

Just as planned, today Rovio released their new game on the iOS App Store and the Google Play Store. Called Amazing Alex, the new physics puzzle game’s gameplay is a notable departure from Angry Birds.

This time around you are prompted to design elaborate chain reactions to get certain tasks accomplished. There are 100 challenging levels across four locations, with more promised to come in the future. Read more »

Tiny Wings 2 coming for iOS devices in July 12, Android version in the works

Tiny Wings was such a huge hit on iOS that it gave the start to a whole new genre of mobile games and now its creators have announced that we are about to get its sequel.

Tiny Wings 2 is also expected to hit the Google Play Store soon after the iOS release (which should happen in two days). To build up some hype ahead of the imminent release, the developers also released a trailer video. Read more »

‘Dead Trigger’ for iOS and Android game review

From staring at a black, pixellated line that was supposed to be a snake to impressive high definition 3D graphics being powered by equally impressive multi-core processors, mobile gaming has come a long way in the past ten years. Today, we are going to take a look at a game that falls firmly in the latter category, called Dead Trigger.

Dead Trigger is developed by Madfinger Games, the same people who have given us the excellent Shadowgun and Samurai II: Vengeance. Dead Trigger is a first person shooter that involves everyone’s favorite pastime, shooting zombies in the face. Read more »

‘Where’s My Perry?’ for iOS and Android game review

Where’s My Perry? is the latest game from Disney for iOS and Android. The game is based on the previous and highly popular title Where’s My Water? but uses modified gameplay mechanics and different characters to warrant its existence as a separate game.

Where’s My Perry? stars Perry the Platypus, also known as Agent P from the Disney animated show Phineas and Ferb. Now those of you who are not six years-old would probably not recognize him but apparently he’s quite popular among the kids, which is why Disney chose to make an entire game around the character. Apple paid $60 million to Proview to settle dispute regarding iPad trademark

The battle between Chinese company Proview and Apple regarding the ‘iPad’ trademark is not new but it has now finally come to an end, with both parties deciding to settle and with Apple having paid $60 million to Proview to use the iPad trademark.

This whole thing started two years ago when Proview sued Apple for purchasing the rights for the ‘iPad’ trademark through a subsidiary named IP Application Development Ltd. for £35,000. Read more »

Disney releases ‘Where’s My Perry?’ for iOS and Android

You may have heard of or played Disney’s excellent ‘Where’s My Water?’ game on iOS and Android by now. The game involves directing water through various obstacles and makes excellent use of fluid physics. Now Disney has released another game called ‘Where’s My Perry?’ that, again, uses water but this time on all of its states.

‘Where’s My Perry?’ stars the Perry the Platypus from the Disney animated TV series ‘Phineas and Ferb’. In ‘Where’s My Perry?’, you have to use various gadgets to turn water into steam, steam into water and water into ice. Read more »

Rovio’s Amazing Alex coming to iOS and Android this month

Developer of the obscenely popular Angry Birds series of games Rovio is now set to launch a brand new game for iOS and Android devices. The game is called Amazing Alex and is set to launch this month.

If you are familiar with Rube Goldberg contraptions you already know how to play this game. The game will require you to setup objects into creating a complication contraption in order to achieve a simple goal. Of course, there is no one way to achieve the goal and you can come up with various ways to achieve the same effect. Read more »

Dead Trigger released for iOS, arrives on Android tomorrow

We have already talked about the zombie shooting game from Madfinger Games called Dead Trigger in the past. Now the game has finally been released and is available on iOS for $0.99. It’s a universal app, which means you will be able to buy it once and play it on your iPhone as well as your iPad.

Voice Search on Jelly Bean teaches Apple’s Siri a thing or two about web search

At the announcement of the latest iteration of Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, Google unveiled their updated Voice Search engine. It’s not exactly a virtual personal assistant but we decided to just go with it and see how it stacks up against one of the best ones out there – Apple’s Siri.

Google’s Voice Search in Jelly Bean, as its name suggests, is limited at doing web searches, and setting up the occasional alarm. Siri, on the other hand, is a full-blown virtual assistant – able to open applications (iOS6-only) set up meetings and even crack you up with a joke. We’ll be comparing the two in a series of web search tests and a side task to see how they fare. Read more »

Apple releases new Podcasts app for iOS

Those of you who are using iOS 6 developer beta may have noticed the lack of a podcasts section within the iTunes and Music player apps within the OS. The speculations suggested that Apple will soon be releasing a separate app for podcasts. And it has.

Now available on the App Store is a brand new Podcasts app for iOS devices, including the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. This app lets you download and playback audio as well as video podcasts and comes with a gorgeous new UI. Read more »
