New Firefox Beta for Android lets you add services to its home screen

Chrome for Android got a new beta version yesterday, and now it’s the turn of one of its biggest competitors – Firefox. The guys at Mozilla released a new Firefox Beta in the Play Store, and it comes with a new feature that lets you further customize the content you see in the browser’s home screen.

Now you can add Web content from many sources such as websites, feeds, and services, and each of those will get its very own panel in the start screen of Firefox for Android. Read more »

Google Play Store now features an offline games section

So you’re caught in the subway with no cell phone service and want to stay occupied. You fire up a game on your smartphone and get ready to enjoy some time-killing action, but you just find out that the app you downloaded earlier from the Play Store only works when you’re connected to the internet.

Samsung hasn’t done the best job of the keeping the Gear VR under wraps, so it isn’t surprising that images of the Gear VR’s software was leaked.

Chrome Beta for Android gets Material Design, auto sign-in on Google websites

Chrome Beta for Android has been updated to version 37 today, and with it come the first hints of Material Design. This new design philosophy was announced last month during Google I/O, and it will be the basis for the Android L release that’s coming this fall.

And now it’s made its way to Chrome, which follows in the footsteps of the Play Store app. The browser sports a more modern look, though it’s not 100% Material just yet. Still, it’s a start, and Google will obviously keep adding more of that Material Design sauce to Chrome up to Android L’s public debut later this year. Read more »

Amazon Fire Phone hands-on

Recently, we got a chance to spend a tiny bit of quality time with the Amazon Fire Phone at an AT&T press event in New York City. The retail giant’s first ever smartphone is now available in the United States for $199 with a two-year contract or $649 outright.

The Amazon Fire Phone’s specs include Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 SoC, 2GB of RAM, 32GB or 64GB of non-expandable memory, and 4.7” 720p LCD display. Read more »

Intel Broadwell and Skylake Android tablets are coming in 2015

Intel’s Broadwell and Skylake-powered high-end detachable Android devices are said to be coming in 2015, according to a report.

Intel will start offering Bay Trail-T or Bay Trail M processors by the end of 2014 and these gadgets are expected to be priced in the range of $179 to $249 in the market. In 2015, the company will come out with Cherry Trail, the next generation Atom powered tablets. Read more »

OnePlus One receives an official stock Android 4.4.4 KitKat ROM

The OnePlus One is getting a tasty treat today, as the company launches an Android 4.4.4 KitKat stock ROM as an alternative to the phone’s custom CyanogenMod 11S ROM.

Skype 5 for Android will add contacts from your phone’s address book

LG announces Puppy Pop – the first game that can be played on the QuickCircle’s window

If opening the cover of your G3 smartphone to fire a game was just too much work for you, then Puppy Pop is just the app you need. In addition to being able to check the time, place calls and take photos without having to open the QuickCircle case’s cover, G3 users can now play games too.

Samsung airs an inspiration surfing ad spot, the Galaxy S5 chills on the beach

Samsung’s marketing team is probably large enough to populate the Allure of the Seas ocean cruise ship and its members certainly don’t lack inspiration. None of ads we’ve seen recently, however, comes close to company’s promo spot for the Association of Surfing Professionals, which it is sponsoring.

The product per second ratio is pretty low compared to the standard norm of Samsung ad spots, but that’s intentional, as the video’s mission is to inspire you. Its tagline is “Every day is day one” and stands behind the message that whether you’re a pro or a rookie, hopping on the surfboard and riding a wave is as exciting as your first day. Read more »

64GB Xiaomi Mi Pad comes to Europe for €280

Chinese manufacturer Xiaomi’s capable Tegra K1-based Mi Pad tablet has finally made its way to western markets. Offering iPad mini-esque specs at a price that’s considerably lower, the Mi Pad is certainly an interesting proposition.

Currently, Xiaomi’s official shop is listing the 64GB Mi Pad for about $380 (€290), and can ship to most countries in Europe for $19, if you’re willing to wait 7-20 days for its arrival. Read more »
