More rumors on the upcoming Galaxy S III have hit the mill and the latest one suggest that the next Samsung flagship will be using wireless charging, rather than the conventional microUSB charging.

Rovio just updated its Angry Birds and Angry Birds Rio titles with new levels. Just two days before the launch of the brand new Angry Birds Space game, the company’s developers delivered a nice treat to the Angry Birds addicts around the world.

The original Angry Birds game got 15 new tropical themed levels, part of the new 45-level Surf and Turf episode. In addition to the new levels, the update also brings new UI, new animated tutorial and some gameplay improvements such as the fast-forward key for quickly jump to the score screen after you’ve killed the last pig. The code of the updated kernel that started seeding last week (that we also reviewed in detail) is now available to download from the Samsung servers. Samsung does a great of job of constantly flooding the internet with as many Galaxy Note ads as possible. This not only raises awareness of their product, but also, it seems, inspires creatives around the world to do their own short movies highlighting the Note’s features.

Google has released another update to the recently updated Google Play Store app on Android, which takes the version number to 3.5.15. Among the list of changes is the ability to sort user reviews and view all your previously downloaded apps, both of which were available on the Play Store website for a while now.

The review sorting feature lets you sort user reviews for an app by the most helpful first or newest first. You can now also choose to view reviews for the latest version of the app and also reviews for just the handset that you use. This will be incredibly useful in separating all the useless reviews from the ones that actually matter to you and your device. Read more »

Up until now, CyanogenMod ROMs were released with root access available by default. But this had become a cause for concern over time; making root access available meant giving apps complete access to your device and thus putting yourself at a security risk.

So in order to take care of this situation, the CyanogenMod team has decided to disable root access over USB from CyanogenMod 9 onwards. Read more »

One of the problems with porting Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich over to old Snapdragon S1 based devices, such as the Nexus One and the HTC HD2, is the lack of GPU binaries. Because of this, initial releases of ICS ROMs for these devices did not support GPU-accelerated UI.

Later, however, developers figured out a way to enable GPU acceleration on these devices but the performance was still less than ideal. Now to make the lives of these developers and all those people out there who run custom ICS ROMs on these older Snapdragon phones easier, Qualcomm has decided to lend a helping hand in the form of GPU binaries for the Adreno 2xx series of GPU. The highly popular ‘Cut the Rope’ game has been available on Android for a while now. But it’s next version, ‘Cut the Rope: Experiments’ has been an iOS exclusive since launch. But not any more, because developer Zeptolab has announced on its Facebook profile that the game is now coming to Android.

For the time being, ‘Cut the Rope: Experiments’ is only available on the Amazon Appstore for the Kindle Fire for $0.99 but it is expected shortly on the Google Play Store as well (Zeptolab says Saturday but I still can’t see it on the store). Read more »

Jokes aside, the latest Samsung Galaxy Note ad is one of the most creative bits of advertising we have seen recently and we believe you may do a whole lot worse with a minute of your life than spending it to watch it.

Remember the Indian government’s project to put a tablet in the hands of every student? Well it seems to be progressing rather well and what we are seeing here is the second version of the ultra-cheap slate. The new Aakash slate is based on the Ubislate 7+ and brings a healthy improvement in specs without upping the price and represents a huge leap forward, just three months after the first version.

Most importantly, the 7″ resistive screen has been replaced by a capacitive one and the tablet got a proper CPU architecture – Cortex-A8. Okay, it’s an old proper architecture and at 700 MHz frequency it will hardly be blazing fast, but that’s more than you can demand from a $40 device. Read more »
