With MWC well under way in Barcelona, HTC were kind to also host an event in New York City, where we got to spend time with the LTE sporting One X, bound to hit AT&T Wireless across the Atlantic. As you probably know by now, the smartphone looks identical to the HTC One X, but sports a different CPU and chipset, which bring its LTE mojo to life.
The HTC One X for AT&T packs Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon S4 chipset. It features two Krait CPU cores, clocked at 1.5GHz, along with Adreno 225 GPU. Read more »

ZTE didn’t come all the way from China to Barcelona to just announce smartphones. No, the Chinese are stepping up the slate market as well with their four latest Android tablets.

Opera has released a new beta of the world’s most popular mobile browser, called the Opera Mini Next. This will give you a taste of some of the new features added in Opera Mini, which will arrive in the stable version later this year.
The changes you see will differ depending upon whether you have a feature phone or a smartphone. On feature phones, you will see a new homepage, along with your usual speed dial page. This new homepage will give you quick access to all your social networks and other information such as news, weather forecasts, sports, entertainment and more. The speed dial list is also updated and can now contain an infinite number of items. Read more »

We hardly believe what we’re seeing. SatNav apps are among the most expensive mobile applications here in Europe. CoPilot Live app has not been any different so far. It comes with $19.99 price tag for United States maps, and about €40 for the full Europe maps.
But all that is about to change, as CoPilot plans to offer its offline navigation app for free on Android and iOS. Read more »
LG announced no less than six new phones throughout the week and are showcasing them all tonight at their pre-MWC LG Mobile Media Preview. And just to make sure no one missed how big they are staking on the LTE wireless technology, they created a new tagline for themeselves: “LTE, its always LG”. LG reportedly holds more LTE patents than any other mobile manufacturer in the world, so it makes sense that that they would want to stand behind their 4G technology in the long run.
As we all know, more phones also means more booth ladies to carry them all, which is a plus in everyone’s book.

The just announced Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 was kind enough to come by our office on its way to the MWC shelves. The latest Samsung slate is supposed to bring the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich experience on the 10.1” screen, while keeping the price as reasonable as possible.
Before switching it on, you can barely tell the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 apart from its predecessor, but the actual user experience is quite different with the second gen slate. Read more »
Chrome Beta browser for Android has received its first update. The biggest improvement is added support for more regions. The updated list now also includes Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, Hong Kong, Hungary, Poland, India, Italy, Ireland, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, New Zealand, Russia, Singapore, South Africa, Sweden and Switzerland. As before, however, the browser is only available on devices running Ice Cream Sandwich, and it’s going to stay that way.
Other changes include the addition of Android Beam support, which means you can now beam URLs to other NFC-enabled Android devices by simply touching them. Lastly, there are some bug fixes and some performance updates. Read more »
