The HTC One V just completed its final lap in our battery test course and we’re ready to share how the most affordable member of the One family did. It has a relatively small LCD screen and a single CPU core, so its 1500mAh battery should last longer than the slightly larger battery in the One S, which has a bigger AMOLED screen and two CPU cores to feed.

NVIDIA announced that it will be releasing an updated version of the Tegra 3, called the Tegra 3+, some time in 2012. It will feature improved performance and will be available on both tablets and smartphones.

Unfortunately, though, unlike what it said before, this updated version won’t be bringing LTE support to Tegra 3. This has been one of the shortcomings of this chipset because of which hardware manufacturers such as HTC had to turn to Qualcomm for powering their LTE phones. Read more »

In a survey conducted last year, HTC asked its customers whether they prefer phones with great battery life or those that compromise battery life to be thin and it seems the majority of the people voted for the second option.

HTC was to use the results of this poll to decide the design of their future products and considering the outcome, decided to discard phones with massive 3,000mAh+ batteries in favor of those that are thinner. Hence, the One series phones. Read more »

The Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 I8160 doubles on a lot of the specs of its predecessor. For instance, the CPU has an extra core, there is a second camera on board, more than twice the number of pixels on a bigger screen, along with extra RAM, built-in storage and so on.

Well, it was a nice dream but it’s time for a wake up call – a representative from Samsung US contacted us and clarified that the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 will have a dual-core processor and not a quad-core as yesterday’s rumor claimed.

Here’s what the company representative told us: “The US version of 10.1 tablet will still have a dual-core CPU and it’s still shipping on May 13th, with pre-orders starting on May 4th.” Read more »

The first official HTC One X update is now rolling out for the SIM-free unlocked units in Europe.

The upgrade is a 30MB download and won’t bring your device OS version up to Android 4.0.4. Instead, it addresses a few issues with the battery, the automatic brightness levels and the on-screen menu key in some apps. Read more »

The pre-order period for the Acer Iconia Tab A510 is now over and the Tegra 3-packing tablet can be bought directly from Acer’s US online store right now. The price is still $450 and you can also get the slate from Amazon in Black or Silver (both bear the Olympic logo).

While the Tab A510 comes with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich out of the box, its older 7″ and 10.1″ siblings, the Tab A100 and Tab A500 respectively, need to be updated. Acer just announced the update schedule, check it out after the break. Read more »

The launch of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2′s has been delayed, reportedly to do a little extra work on the software. But a new rumor has cropped up saying that the real reason is a hardware one – namely Samsung wants to put a quad-core processor inside the Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 and the Galaxy Note 10.1 (no info about on the Tab 2 7.0).

It won’t be the first time Samsung has reworked a tablet just before its launch – it happened to the original Tab 10.1. The already manufactured Tab 10.1 models were sold as “10.1v”, so maybe we’ll see something similar with the Tab 2 10.1 and the Note 10.1, depending on how many of those are already made. If you like reading on your phone then you may have used or heard of Read it Later. One of the most popular reading apps around, Read it Later allowed you to mark sites on your desktop browser for reading later and then when you go to the mobile app you would find them there properly formatted for the display of your smartphone.

Read it Later has now gone through a major redesign and is now called Pocket. The developers have changed almost every visible aspect of the application, and it looks almost nothing like the old one. It is also completely free, unlike Read it Later, which was sold in free and paid versions. Read more »

In an attempt to gain some traction of the Android OS in India, Google has partnered with local carrier Reliance on what seems like a tempting offer.

Everyone who purchases an Android smartphone will get 1GB of data on the Reliance 3G network. Once you hop on the free data train, you’ll have a month to get through it, and you better, because it won’t be transferable to the next month. Read more »

Asus brought a trio of its Android tablets to the Milan Design Week 2012 and better still, the three of them had price tags attached and rough release time frames. The prices are for the Italian market, but they’ll probably be the same in the rest of Europe.

The three tablets are the Tegra 3-packing Asus Transformer Pad 300, the Transformer Pad 700, with its FullHD screen, and the mighty morphing Padfone. Read more »

Rumors about Google’s own cloud file sharing service dubbed Drive have been roaming the Internet for quite a while now. There are strong indications the launch is imminent and, now we hear it will be happening as early as next week.

The guys from TechCrunch got their hands on the Google Drive app for Mac OS X, proving the search giant’s intention of launching its newest service in the nearest future. Read more »

The recently released Panasonic Eluga sports a very slick 7.8mm profile, features a 4.3 inch OLED display running at 540 x 960 pixels, and is waterproof to boot.

A recent report by a Beijing analytics company rated Android device penetration in China to a whopping 68.4% by the end of 2011.
