NVIDIA Shield up for pre-order, ships by the end of June

NVIDIA announced its project Shield handheld gaming console and the company released the full specifications and the pricing details just a few days ago. Now, the console is up for pre-order on NVIDIA’s website and you can also adopt the gadget from Gamestop, Newegg and Canada Computer.

NVIDIA Shield sports a 5-inch 720p touchscreen and is powered by a Tegra 4 chipset that packs four Cortex-A15 cores, a power saving core and a mobile GeForce GPU. Read more »

Samsung looks to free up more memory on Galaxy S4

Fresh of its record-setting sales start of the Samsung Galaxy S4, Samsung is promising to address complaints regarding the low user-available memory of its flagship.

Archos announced its ChefPad a few days ago and now, the company has unveiled the 80 xenon, a slate designed with built-in 3G and Wi-Fi.

Archos 80 xenon sports an 8-inch IPS display with a resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels. The tablet features a quad-core Qualcomm processor clocked at 1.2 GHz, 1 GB of RAM, 2 megapixel rear camera and microSD card slot for memory expansion. Read more »

Video stabilization test shows OIS is best, Galaxy S4 improves over S III

With the megapixel race fizzling out, Optical Image Stabilization seems to be the “next big thing” in mobile phone cameras. But it’s very rare – only two phones currently on sale have it, while the rest rely on digital processing to stabilize the image. CNET did a test to see how some of the most popular phones on the market cope with a user’s shaky hands.

I’m sure most of you have already watched the Google I/O keynote as it was live streamed on the day of the event. However, if for some reason you couldn’t or if you want to watch it again, you can now do it on YouTube.

You can now request an invite for the updated Google Maps

Google uncovered the redesigned Maps service featuring a slew of new features and capabilities at its Google I/O keynote yesterday. Alas, you will only have to wait until the summer to experience the new Maps in its full glory. Despite that, Google has set up a page for you to request an invite to experience the beta version of the service.

The new service sports a new user interface that’s centers only on the map itself. The map imagery itself is also slightly touched and is now completely vector-based. The search giant boasts the new Maps to be ‘tailored-made’ for you that gets better and more personal the more you use it. Read more »

Samsung Galaxy S4 is the first smartphone to get TCO certification

The packaging of the fourth-generation Galaxy S smartphone earned the UL Platinum certification for its eco-friendliness and now, the Samsung 2013 flagship device has been TCO certified for being environmentally friendly.

The TCO Development foundation is mainly focused on the sustainability in the IT sector and the firm has found that the Samsung Galaxy S4 to comply with all its criteria, so it is the first smartphone to get certified by TCO. Read more »

Google revamps Maps for mobile and web with new UI, Google+ sync and personalized maps

Leaks of the redesigned Maps spoiled the Google’s surprise, which was supposed to be the official release of the revamped service at Google I/O. Launching in the summer, the new Google Maps will sport an updated user interface as well as deeper Google+ synchronization

Google conversational search to make its way to Chrome and Chrome OS as Knowledge Graph gets four new languages
