Google Glass torn down, regular smartphone guts found inside, save for the fancy display

Google Glass is available only to a select few and one of them agreed to sacrifice the $1,500 smart glasses in the name of science. By which I mean “people who want to see gadgets disassembled.”

Glass was apparently not meant to be torn down but the Catwig team that did the disassembly managed to put it back together in fully operational condition and with only minor cosmetic damage. Read more »

Incognito Mode feature coming to CyanogenMod, keeps your personal info safe from your apps

Core CyanogenMod developer Steve Kondik has used his Google Plus page to tease an upcoming privacy feature that the project may soon adopt.

“Run in Incognito Mode” as it is called will allow you to choose which apps have access to your personal data. The feature works on a per-app basis and if enabled returns an empty list of contacts, calendar entries, browser history and messages for the selected app. GPS will appear to be off as well. Gameloft announces Asphalt 8: Airborne and Brothers in Arms 3

If you think all the gaming action this month is happening only on the consoles, think again. Gameloft has announced the next versions of their popular Asphalt and Brothers in Arms games and the visuals are likely to blow your mind.

The first is Asphalt 8: Airborne, the successor to the rather excellent Asphalt 7: Heat. From the trailer it seems there is not a whole lot of difference in terms of gameplay but holy mother of polygons does it look spectacular, especially for a mobile game. Read more »

Samsung Galaxy S4 screen got a UL certification for Display image quality thanks to its accurate Adobe RGB support

The Samsung Galaxy S4 scored a second certificate from Underwriters Laboratories (UL), this one for its screen. The 5″ Super AMOLED display with 1080p resolution achieves 97% coverage of the Adobe RGB, which can represent about 35% more color ranges than sRGB.

Earlier this year, the Galaxy S4 received another UL certification – one for its eco-friendliness – and one from TCO as well. Read more »

Samsung reportedly ordered 12 million 12.2″ IGZO displays from Sharp to make tablets

With an uninspiring Galaxy Tab 10.1 refresh out of the way, Samsung may be looking to produce something more interesting – Korean site ETNews claims that a 12.2″ tablet is on the way.

Samsung has reportedly partnered with Sharp to deliver 2—2.5 million 12.2″ screens a month for a total of about 12 million panels per quarter. The two companies announced they will work closer after Samsung bought a 3% stake in Sharp. Read more »

Samsung officially announced its Galaxy Tab 3 8.0 and Galaxy Tab 10.1 earlier this the week. At the announcement, the Koreans only confirmed white color option, but now the images of the Golden Brown variant of both slates have leaked courtesy of the popular evleaks. Twitter account.

Samsung SHV-E330S, supposedly a Galaxy S4 with LTE Advanced and Snapdragon 800, shows up in AnTuTu scores

The Samsung Galaxy S4 flagship phone is split into two versions – with Snapdragon 600 chipset and with Exynos 5 SoC. Could there be a third one with Snapdragon 800? Quite possibly, according to an AnTuTu benchmark result for the SHV-E330S, which showed up with a 2.3GHz CPU.

That is supposedly the Galaxy S4 LTE Advanced model for Samsung’s home country of South Korea (which is where the benchmark was run too). Read more »

Official Man of Steel game trailer comes ahead of iOS and Android launch

As Man of Steel is gathering popularity Warner Bros is keen to boost the hype even further. Just before the movie’s release we got a trailer of the upcoming game for Android and iOS.

The trailer contains gameplay footage detailing some combos, the flying, the graphics and confirms the June 14 release date. Unfortunately, we got no info on how much the game will cost. Read more »

Mobile wars – UK HTC, Samsung and LG trade blows on Twitter

Oh dear! They say competition is the mother of progress but this is latest childish outbursts are mostly great for a laugh or inspiring fanboy wars depending on how seriously you take things.

After the Mobile Awards in the UK event concluded HTC’s UK decided to poke its rival Samsung on Twitter after winning Hottest phone of 2013 with the HTC One. After boasting about its victory the HTC UK Twitter account added an “Ouch @SamsungMobileUK”, which spurred the events to follow. Read more »

While preparing the full review of the Nokia Lumia 928, we were quite curious what its Xenon flash is capable of. We had a Samsung Galaxy S4 around so we decided to do an impromptu shootout in low light conditions. We’ve prepared a set of samples from both devices for you to see, both with and without flash under the same conditions.

The entire marketing blitz surrounding the Nokia Lumia 928 has been built around its camera’s low light prowess. The samples we are about to show you now are not about that (or at least, not entirely).

Samsung Wireless Charging Pad and Cover go on sale in US, India

The Samsung Galaxy S4 opted to offer Wireless Charging via a dedicated accessory (back panel + charging pad) instead of forcing the extra heft on all users (like Nokia did with the 920).

If you live in the US or India you can now go ahead and start saving up for the Charging Pad and Charging cover because Samsung has posted those on its online stores. We’re hoping you can actually order them soon. Read more »
