Better spec’d Acer C7 Chromebook is now available, gets you bigger battery and 4GB RAM for $300

In a rather unexpected move, Acer has outed a second version of its C7 Chromebook bringing a decent bump in specs.

Carrying the C710-2605 model name, the new Acer C7 Chromebook sports the same 1.1GHz dual-core Intel Celeron B835 processor as its predecessor, but now the RAM is doubled to 4GB and the storage is 500GB instead of 320GB. Read more »

Mozilla releases Firefox OS Simulator into the wild, gives Firefox Nightly individual private tabs

Mozilla is gearing up towards the launch of its upcoming mobile OS by releasing a Firefox OS Simulator as an extension for Firefox.

The official SkyDrive app for the Xbox 360 launches today as part of a 40-app suite specially designed for Microsoft’s gaming console.

Allwinner announces the quad-core A31 and dual-core A20 chipsets with Cortex-A7 CPUs

Chinese mobile chip manufacturer Allwinner has announced two new chips – the quad-core A31 and the dual-core A20. The chips are designed to be the heart of upcoming tablets, media PCs and set top boxes.

Both chips are using ARM Cortex-A7 processors and feature a significant boost in performance and graphics muscle, compared to the Cortex-A8 that powered the company’s current bestseller chip – the Allwinner A10. Read more »

Not only is this Google’s first swing at a 10-inch slate, but it’s also the tablet with the highest resolution screen on the market. It’s got a 2560×1600-pixel LCD with a pixel density of 300 ppi, which can put even the Retina iPad to shame.

Microsoft sells 40 million Windows 8 licenses a month after the launch of the OS

At the end of October, Microsoft officially launched the Windows 8 operating system and now, a month later, the company reports it has already sold 40 million licenses.

An impressive achievement for the guys at Redmond, indeed. In comparison, there were 60 million Windows 7 licenses sold in the first 10 weeks after its launch at the end of 2009. Read more »
