Android 4.4 KitKat ROM now available for Galaxy Nexus

As you probably know the Samsung Galaxy Nexus will be missing on the official Android 4.4 KitKat update as the device falls outside the 18 month update window. However, that hasn’t stopped the developers at XDA from coming up with a stable KitKat ROM for their favorite smartphone.

The custom built Android 4.4 ROM for the Galaxy Nexus is based on the CyanogenMod 11. The only problem seems to be with the screenshot animation and there are no issues with the actual screenshot. Apart from that, every other feature work flawlessly, according to the developer. Read more »

Acer announces Aspire Z3-600 with 21.5-inch touchscreen display

Acer has officially unveiled a new all-in-one PC, dubbed as Aspire Z3-600. The latest addition to the Aspire series comes with a touchscreen and kickstand and aims to become one of the best portable tablet in its class.

The Aspire Z3-600 comes with a 21.5-inch display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. The machine runs on Intel’s Pentium J2580 quad-core processor with integrated Intel HD Graphics along with 4 GB of RAM. Read more »

LG V510 service manual surfaces

The service manual of an upcoming LG slate with a model name V510 has shown up in China. The designation suggests that the device is very similar to the LG G Pad 8.3, which carries the V500 model name.

Game of Thrones and other HBO shows hit Google Play Store in the UK

Google in association with HBO has brought a couple of popular TV shows to the Play Store. The new deal has allowed the search engine giant to include Game of Thrones, Boardwalk Empire, True Blood, Girls and Veep on the Google Play service for the first time.

Canon announces EOS M2 mirrorless camera

Canon has officially taken wraps of its second generation mirrorless interchangeable lens camera dubbed EOS M2. The successor of the EOS M is said to have an auto-focus speed that is 2.3 times faster than the previous edition.

The newest Hybrid CMOS AF II system in the camera improves the focusing speed by expanding the focus window by about 80% of the viewfinder, which is about double the size from the EOS M. Read more »

PlayStation 4 opening weekend sales hit 250K in the UK

Sony’s latest gaming console, the PlayStation 4 saw great reception in the UK. According to a report from The Telegraph, Sony managed to sell 250,000 units of PS4 in about 48 hours after the launch of the PS4 in Britain.

Android 4.4 KitKat degrades video playback performance

Android 4.4 KitKat is the latest version of the Google developed mobile operating system. The 4.4 was promised to enhance the overall performance and as far as we can tell from those devices that have already been updated that it mostly true.
