Prepare your PlayStations, for the all mighty God of War is coming back. Rumors of this game have been circulating for a while now but we finally have the full trailer courtesy of the PlayStation Facebook page.

The game will be called God of War: Ascension, unlike the God of War IV name that was being floated around till now. Also, unlike what I imagined, this doesn’t seem like a successor to God of War III but more like a prequel, where they show how Kratos came to be known as the Ghost of Sparta. Read more »

Nikon has updated its D3100 entry level DSLR with the new D3200. One of the major new features is a high-resolution DX format 24.2 megapixel CMOS sensor, up from the 14.2 megapixel sensor on the D3100. Despite the increased resolution, the new D3200 can now capture images at 4fps in burst mode, compared to 3fps on the D3100.

Other changes include 1080p video recording at 30fps instead of 24fps, 920k dot display instead of 230k dots and the ability to connect a Wi-Fi adaptor. Read more »

If you like reading on your phone then you may have used or heard of Read it Later. One of the most popular reading apps around, Read it Later allowed you to mark sites on your desktop browser for reading later and then when you go to the mobile app you would find them there properly formatted for the display of your smartphone.

Read it Later has now gone through a major redesign and is now called Pocket. The developers have changed almost every visible aspect of the application, and it looks almost nothing like the old one. Apple doesn’t usually hire celebrities to endorse their products. In fact, the last time I remember they hired somewhat popular actors was in their Get a Mac series of ads with Justin Long and John Hodgman back in 2009. So it’s curious to see popular actress Zooey Deschanel and all-round badass Samuel L. Jackson in the latest iPhone 4S commercials airing in the US.

Both the ads revolve around Siri, with the actors finding out things and getting things done using only their voice. It’s the usual stuff, like finding out a restaurant nearby, settings or cancelling reminders, and playing music. Stuff that we have seen before in older 4S ads, except this time it’s a bit special because of the actors. Read more »

Microsoft has released the list of editions that Windows 8 will be sold in. As of now, there will be four editions, Windows 8, Windows 8 Pro, Windows 8 Enterprise and Windows RT.

The first three will be available for PCs and tablet users running x86/64 processors and will be on sale whereas Windows RT will be exclusively for PCs and tablets running on the ARM platform and will not be sold but would rather ship built into the devices. According to Microsoft, all editions of Windows 8 offer a no-compromise experience, which has sort of become their slogan with Windows 8. Read more »

The GPS dongle that ASUS promised to Transformer Prime owners is set to be officially announced today. But before that there are some pictures of it available for your viewing (dis)pleasure, courtesy of Land of Droid.

The GPS dongle is like a long plastic strip that is designed to latch on to the dock connector on the bottom of the Transformer Prime. This also means that you won’t be able to use the keyboard when you’re using this dongle. Read more »

Google has expanded its list of countries and currencies that are allowed to sell applications as well as in-app content on the Google Play Store. The newest additions include Czech Republic, Israel, Poland, and Mexico and the total number of countries in the list now stands at 31.

Developers who are based in Israel or Mexico and were till now publishing apps on the Play Store using AdSense merchant account will now have to migrate their account to a new Google Play Store account in their local currency. An email will be sent to them that provides more information on the migration process. Read more »

A lot of hullabaloo has been made in recent times about Foxconn and the working condition of the people who work in its factories. Unfortunately, we never really got a good look at how these people work and how they make the products, such as the iPad. That is until now.

Marketplace correspondent Rob Schmitz was recently granted access to one of Foxconn’s factories that manufactures Apple products, where he made a multi-part documentary about the working conditions of the people there, of which the first video shows how the iPad gets made. Read more »

Thanks to some poking around by Chipworks and AnandTech, we have learned that the new $399 iPad 2 as well as the new Apple TV are running on a newer version of the A5 SoC (APL2498) that is using the 32nm HKMG fabrication process compared to the previous one (APL0498) that used 45nm process.

Both these processors were found to be identical, which means that the processor in the Apple TV is actually a dual-core CPU but with one core disabled. Considering the simple tasks that the Apple TV has to handle, even with a single-core the A5 processor has more than enough power, although it’s unclear whether the second core being disabled is due to Apple choosing to go with a single core or due to binning. Google+ has received a revamp that completely changes the way it looks. Assuming you have received the design update, the first thing you’ll notice on the left is a new ribbon that houses all the key features of Google+. You can hover over them to access additional functions, move them around or put them into ‘More’ if you don’t use them very often.

Next you will notice that your conversation stream has changed a bit. The photos and videos appear a lot bigger than before and there is also a new album viewer. On the right side is a trending list, à la Twitter, to keep a tab of the topics being discussed on Google+. There is a separate Explore section on the side for you to check out all the popular and trending posts on Google+. Read more »

A few days ago, RIM’s Vice President of Developer Relations Alec Saunders said on Twitter that RIM will be removing the ability to sideload apps on to the BlackBerry PlayBook for consumers. This was mainly being done to combat piracy and in Saunders’ own words because they “don’t want to duplicate the chaotic cesspool of Android market.”

Now, however, RIM is going back on its previous statement, with Saunders this time taking to the company’s blog and elaborating on what he said earlier on Twiiter while basically contradicting himself in the process. Read more »

You may have seen 3D printers before, machines that can create complex 3D objects by melting plastic. What we have today is no different than that, except instead of plastic objects this machine prints out chocolates.

Yes, you read that right. This machine uses molten chocolate which it slowly places into layers into any 3D shape you want. You can see it in action in the video below. Read more »
