The Nexus 10 a little old now (it wasn’t updated along with the 7″ model) but you can get a great deal for it – $350 for the 32GB Wi-Fi only model. Keep in mind that the Play Store is selling the 16GB version for $400, the 32GB is $500.
That $400 iPad 2 doesn’t sound like such a good deal now, does it? Not that it ever did, but even the 32GB iPad Air for $600 sounds pricy in comparison too. Read more »
Apple unveiled a number of new Mac products and top-notch productivity is the name of the game. There’s the MacBook Pro for computing on the go and the Mac Pro for the absolute maximum in performance. It uses the latest Intel Xeon E5 chips with 4, 6, 8 or 12 cores.
The increase in power comes with a decrease in power consumption, which in turn leads to less heat and fewer fans needed. The new Mac Pro has only one instead of the eight that the previous model used. Read more »
Sony wants to tickle your nostalgia bone with a promo video of the PlayStations over the years that shows how many avid players grew up with the console. “This is for the Players” says the video as it shows quick peeks of games you’ve played in the past and the games you’ll play on the upcoming PlayStation 4.
The video is very well made (a long tradition for PlayStation ads), with no apparent cuts – the camera just spins around showing a growing London through the window and growing friends in the room, who bond over playing the latest PlayStation games. Read more »

Something is rotten in the state of Facebook – posting a new status, writing on someone’s wall or using Facebook’s payment system have been out of order since earlier today. And what are people to do about it other than complain on Twitter?
Facebook’s developers page confirms that the payment system is down, has been since 4:50AM PDT. And it’s not the first time this month either, the same thing happened on October 5 and again on October 12. Read more »
Co-founders and leaders of HTC Peter Chou and Cher Wang (CEO and chairperson respectively) gave an interview to the Financial Times and strongly implied that the company is working on tablet and a wearable device.
Apple has an event set for tomorrow, October 22, and the wall Street Journal is confirming that the stars of the show will be two new iPads – the new mini and a new version of the 9.7″ model. There might be Mac-related announcements too.
While not official, the news that the iPad mini 2 will be at the event tomorrow is slightly surprising as there were quite a few reports on the low yields of the new 7.9″ Retina display, meaning the tablet won’t make it in time for the holidays or at least won’t be widely available. Read more »

We’ve been hearing that Windows Phone and Windows RT might merge but a new rumor suggests it will be more like Phone displacing RT. Microsoft is working on a Windows Phone 8.1 update, which will allegedly add support for 7 to 10 inch screens to enable WP8.1-powered tablets and merge parts of the API so developers can easily create apps for both platforms.
Multitasking is reportedly the biggest issue ahead of this plan – the GDR3 update will let users close apps manually, but apps running in the background are still a no go. Not until the 8.1 update that is. Read more »

A new photo of the Nokia Lumia 2520 Windows RT tablet indicates that the rumored tablet will follow in the footsteps of the Microsoft Surface tablet and have a kickstand on its back. The image is low quality and doesn’t even show the whole tablet, so trust it at your own risk.
The moons have aligned in our favor – or rather in favor of a massive shootout between the six best mobile phone cameras on the market. We have the resolution champs – Nokia Lumia 1020 and Sony Xperia Z1, the 13MP shooters – LG G2 and Samsung Galaxy Note 3, the Apple iPhone 5s and the HTC One.
We spent a good part of the day snapping photos with all six and we’re already examining the image quality. Read more »
