Sony RX1 spotted, allegedly packing a glorious full-frame sensor

After stuffing in a one-inch sensor inside the point and shoot RX100, it seems Sony is now going to put in a full-frame 35mm sensor inside an upcoming compact camera known as the RX1.

The RX1 looks like something that is barely larger than the RX100 but with a bigger lens to go with that ginormous sensor. The lens in question is a 35mm f/2.0 Carl Zeiss lens that looks like it’s removable but is fixed to the body. Read more »

HP announces new SpectreONE AiO desktop PC

HP has announced the new SpectreONE, an All-in-One desktop PC running Windows 8. The company claims it is the thinnest AiO PC in their portfolio, at just 11.5mm.

HP achieves this thickness by removing several key features, most notably a touchscreen display and an optical drive. The SpectreONE instead comes with a standard 23.6-inch 1080p display and a multi-touch trackpad, which looks pretty much identical to the Magic Trackpad that Apple provides with the iMac. New photos of Apple’s alleged new 8-pin USB jack compare it to microUSB

New leaked photos of Apple’s new USB interface jack show it’s about the same size as microUSB jacks. So far we’ve seen a lot of iPhone 5 leaks showing reference designs distributed among Chinese sources, and all of them suggest Apple is switching to a smaller size jack for the next iPhone (reportedly for the iPad mini too).

So hot on the heels of these leaks, come these photos of Apple USB cables, showing in detail the new connector plug Apple would use.

Of course, before we see the thing announced for real next week on September 12, we’ll never know for sure, but these shots seem quite believable on their own. Read more »

LG flaunts its headlining Optimus G in a series of short videos

The LG Optimus G will be LG’s top smartphone this holiday season and as we’re getting closer to its market launch (reportedly, later this month), the company is eager to keep its device in the headlines.

The company has published a nice set of short video ads this week, meant to show you more about the phone. As a quick specs recap, the LG Optimus G runs on the latest quad-core Qualcomm APQ8064 processor with a top-of-the-line Adreno 320 GPU and 2GB of RAM.

Other important features include a 4.7-inch, 720p True HD IPS display, a 13 megapixel camera, a 2,100mAh battery and Android 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich. Read more »

‘Super Hexagon’ for iOS game review

Super Hexagon started life as a Flash game on a website. Created by Terry Cavanagh, known for making sadistic games such as VVVVVV, Super Hexagon has you pushing just two buttons but pulling out many, many hair.

A Sony engineer takes apart Xperia Tablet S on video, puts it back together again

Teardowns of various tech is a popular thing on the Internet and Sony has decided to try their hands at it. The victim is the new Sony Xperia Tablet S. There’s a timelapse video, which shows Sony engineer Takuya Inaba take apart the Tablet S and then put it back together again, but the accompanying blog post is more interesting.

Kindle Fire HD vs. Nexus 7 vs. iPad 3 – rekindling the tablet wars

If you watched the Amazon event yesterday, you’d know how much fun it was. Not just because the products announced were great but because the way Amazon pulled no punches while going after Google’s Nexus 7 and Apple’s iPad, while simultaneously taking the mickey out of other Android tablets.

We’re still far from seeing just how good Amazon’s new Kindle Fire HD, especially the 8.9-inch model which isn’t coming before November, but we can still compare it on paper with the other two tablets and see how it stacks up in comparison. Read more »
