Yahoo! continues its shopping spree and the latest item in its shopping basket is the popular homescreen replacement app Aviate. The homescreen replacement is unique in its contextual features and tracking the usage patterns of its users to provide better experience.
Yahoo seems to be quite fond of these capabilities of the app, which also lay the foundation of automatic homescreen layouts. The possibilities that open up with are quite great – you can get different widgets (such as weather, news, etc.) for the different times of the day or shortcuts which are rearranging themselves so the most often used ones are always nearby. After having acquired Gaikai, a company that specialized in streaming games over the internet to your device, it was obvious that at some point in the future Sony would be adding the feature to its PlayStation line. It would allow users to go beyond the limits of native compatibility and do things like play PS3 games on their PS4 or PSVita.
That dream has now finally coming to reality with the launch of the PlayStation Now service. With this, you will be able to stream PS3 games to your PS4 and PS3 at first and on to the PSVita at a later date. But that’s not all. The last device Asus announced on CES at Las Vegas was the innovative Asus Transformer Book Duet. It’s a dual-boot slate with a detachable keyboard dock that looks a bit like MacBook Air and can run both Android 4.2 and Windows 8.1 in both tablet and laptop modes.
The slate is based on Intel i3/i5/i7 with the latest Intel’s dual OS platform that allows running Android and Windows on a single device and supports switching instantaneously between them via a single button. Android, the Google-developed mobile operating system, will have more than one billion active users by the end of 2014, according to a report from the popular research firm Gartner.
Gartner predicts the open-source platform will reach about 1.1 billion users, which is a 26% increase over what it currently has. Read more »

We all know that Apple’s App Store makes lots and lots of money, but every now and then it still manages to surprise us. The app repository has shattered previous records, generating the whopping $10 billion in earnings in 2013.

As we were making our trip around the CES 2014 grounds we stopped at the Lenovo booth to check out the latest offerings by the Chinese company.
